Hi All
Sorry if this has been already answered. I did try to look first (promise)
And all I can see is the software SmartST1 vs SmartST2
So - what is the difference between the 4400 (discontinued) and the current 4410??
The reason I ask is that, I have been offered a brand new sealed 4400 for much less that the £235++ for the 4410.
Your help is much appreciated
Regards

Hardware on both 4410 and 4400 is the same (namely the 4100 Bluetooth GPS receiver).
The only difference is the software; with the 4400 you get SmartST Pro and with the 4410 you get SmartST v2.
SmartST v2 is far superior to SmartST Pro.
You could of course use different software like I did. I use TomTom 3 with the Navman hardware. Reliability all round. _________________ Ipaq 4150, Polstar PBT-111, TomTom3, Kingston 256mb SD, Arkon Powered Amplified PDA Mount |

Not sure I agree with Genie on the superiority of SmartST V2.
It certainly has more functionality, i.e. can add avoid areas, use postcodes and link to outlook contacts.
It is though in my personal experience less stable (locked up 3 times in a 100 mile journey today).
The map data is TeleAtlas not NavTeq. This leads to inaccuracies in routing information, e.g. shows A120 rather than A12 going past Colchester. This in turn leads to misdirection at junctions.
Also you may see many posts suggestig that the routing algorithm in SmartST V2 is not as good as it could be! Today, travelling from Slough to Colchester it tried to route me through centre of London around the north circular when I had selected the fastest route _________________ Steveee

ok fair enough Steveee, You have been using it and speaking from experience.
Whereas, I never installed my copy of SmartST v2, but instead decided to buy TT3, since I got my 4410 at quite a reduced price.
I assumed it was superior because its part of a higher priced premium package.
Anyway, I would check out the reviews of the respective programs and then make a decision on which one to go for. _________________ Ipaq 4150, Polstar PBT-111, TomTom3, Kingston 256mb SD, Arkon Powered Amplified PDA Mount |

The answer here depends on the price you are getting the 4400 for.
The reason I ask is that the standalone 4100 BT GPS rx retails at £155 and both the 4400 and 4410 use the same 4100 hardware.
V2 is much better than V1 feature-wise but as V2 uses TeleAtlas over Navteq mapping data then other issues on map accuracy are brought into question. These have been discussed elswhere in the Navman forums. _________________ Ian.
