Before updating my TOM TOM one I had a voice tell me the type and speed of the cameras (I remember downloading this voice). e.g. "Gatso 40" Now I have to set it up with a bell or chime. Is the voice still available or am I stuck with the Tom Tom chimes? |

First thing you need to tell us... TomTom's own camera data or the one from this site? |

I understand that, to get street names spoken during the giving of driving instructions, one has to use a computer generated voice? Which of TT's voices are computer generated please? There seems to be no way of finding out and TT won't answer my e mail queries on the subject! |

The 2 English GB voices are Kate and Simon. _________________ Richard

Oldboy - you are most kind. However, I log into my account, go to extras and voices and there is a selection, either free or to buy, but none of them are Kate or Simon. Are you able to guide me to them, please? |

For some reason known only to TomTom (and probably not even to them) you don't access the computer voices by clicking on "Voices". You have to go to the third page of "Add Maps, Traffic, Voices etc", and select "Computer Voices" there. _________________ Anita

porkypenguin.... this might be obvious, but you need a model that supports text to speech in order to use "computer" voices.
On any model that can... at least one is pre-installed and is labelled as a "computer voice" on the selection pages.
What model do you have? |

Hi all, I was going to start a new topic on voice warnings, but seeing as this one is running I will add to this .
I have installed all the PGPS speed cams and the voice warnings on my TTgo 520 and up to now have had no probs, mobile warnings being spoken as I approach.
Now , last saturday going shopping to a different town, got another warning, but no voice, just a bell, thought I was outside a church for a minute. Could be a different type of cam.
Does anyone have any idea why I got this? What do I need to do to rectify?
I dont know if it is a corrupted file or a missing file maybe. Obviously have tried a re-boot etc. If anyone could give me any suggestions/advice please.
Thanks...... _________________ ***************************************

Could be the "overspeed" warning? If you select Change preferences, Safety preferences, you can choose to be warned when driving faster than allowed and/or faster than a set speed. The default sound for both of these is "Bell 1". _________________ Anita

Could it be perhaps a 'pmobile'? Did you see a speed camera icon pop up? If so was it mainly black? I believe you need an additional set of /ogg files for 'pmobiles'. _________________ Ric - TomTom 520 DEAD - Passed to the great traffic jam in the sky. Hi again,
Thanks for the quick replies. Now, the overspeed warning I have heard a couple of times and that was a double bong, didnt half make me jump though.
The Pmobile is a posibillity though as I couldnt see a fixed cam in the area it said it was. As we dont have a lot of fixed speed cams in this area , what colour would gatso`s etc show on the screen please? then I would have an inkling of what i am looking at.
Thanks again for the replies _________________ ***************************************

Have you actually checked whether the overspeed warnings are activated and, if they are, which warning sound is associated with them? If you've connected your device to your pc since hearing the double bong the sound may well have reverted to the default Bell 1. Mine does every time I connect.
To check if it's a camera alert run a demo past that point with the speed set to 200%. If it's a camera you should get the alert. _________________ Anita

Thanks for the reply Anita,
Ok, I have the overspeed warning set, prob a good thing anyway so will leave that.
I then chose a route where I know there are mobile cams, that was ok and I got the voice warnings for the cams, black cams in white box-ok.
I then did a demo route to the town I went to last saturday, came up to the camera location and got a bong/bell, checked the camera icon , think it was a white cam in a black box so it looks like its a pmobil. Now , is it better to install the voice files for the pmobiles or leave as is, so I know thats what it is and can differentiate between them
Thanks for your help again, everything is so easy to pick up on this unit ,so user friendly. _________________ ***************************************

While we are on the topic of voices, how do you change the voice "You have reached your destination" with a custom one which I have downloaded from TonTom Home? I looked all over the menu on my TT One v3 and cannt find where you can change it. |
