Hi,
I have a Tom Tom GO300 and the Aerial connector has come off, it looks to have come unsoldered how, you tell me?
What I need to know is the connections, I know the two Left and Right are anchor points, but I need to know which is the inner and which is the screen, ie looking from the bottom of the GO300 with the screen pointing to you. Which is the inner connector, is it the one looking towards the back at the top and is the outer ie the aerial screen the bottom connector?
Thanks in advance.

I have a dead Go 300.
If you remind me how to get the back off, I'll have a look!
Alternatively, if you'll cover P+P, you can have it. |

Hi,
I see 213 people have viewed my post regarding the aerial connector coming unsoldered from my TomTom GO300, I assume thay are all the same whatever model you have. Anyway to cut a long story short, Andy_p replied to me, he sent me a dead GO300 so I could make sure I had the correct connections, today I got the Torx screwdrivers required and was able to open the two GO300's. Having checked the connections and opened my GO300 I was not sure if I should go for it, as you need to solder within a 5mm space, you also need a soldering Iron with a 1mm tip, I have to say electronics was my trade so what the hell! I placed the arial connector EXACTLY where it should be and solderd the first connection, then having made sure all was in the correct place soldered the other three.
I reasembled my GO300 and switched it on and as I hoped, it sprang into life. So I now have my trusty GO300 back to working as it should be, I also fixed a faulty connection on the mount as well.
Thanks Andy for the dead GO, I hope this post has or will help others who have the skills to have a go (no pun intended) to think about repairing their own faulty units.
An after thought: If you do not know anything about electronics, DO NOT even think about opening your TomTom units you will do even more damage to it. If you are skilled in electronics then you need to be able to work down to component level and be very skilled with your soldering techniques.

Glad it worked for you, well done.
If you're able to pass the remains on to anyone who needs a screen or whatever, that would be even better. |

Hi Andy_P,
Ok will do. I was going to reply to you via PM regarding how your GO got killed. I do remember the sensor wire problem, sorry they gave you the faulty power supply. Having had your dead GO to pieces I cannot see any burnt components, although the power socket shows it has at some time got very hot!
Thanks and Regards,
Bob_W.
