There are (IMHO) better forum packages out there but the conversion etc is a minefield. We also use a linked portal/content management solution that enables all of the team to post news.
Any change of the forum software would only be possible if we could find a package that also offered a portal solution that could co-exist. Whilst the BBC example is an excellent one, I'm not sure it's achievable just yet.
But I 110% agree that the layout and design is far from optimal, the issues we face in resolving this are many and knowing what and where to begin is the hard part! _________________ Darren Griffin |

I'm currently working on ideas to make the navigation easier and to promote the freebies prominently within said navigation. _________________ Robert Brady |

How about mailing companies (M&S, Shell etc) and ask them to supply a list of stores with GPS coordinates. Many of the Shell VPower sites for example are out of date (so is the Shell website I may add). I hope forward thinking companies would assign this little task to the office junior in the hope of raising business.
Secondly - how about expanding the number of verifiers? What coverage do current verifiers have and the likelihood of them coming to a new mobile site?
Thirdly - (and this especially applies to the lacklustre Tomtom POIs) - how about adding the co-ords of the Hypermarkets in Europe. Those of us who escape the UK to enjoy summer need to eat and fill up somewhere so I would guess this could be a starting point. Is there a similar Euro team set up who already have this information?
Keep up the good work. |

This site is very difficult to navigate around and the authors seem to assume that we know where to look for a given tag. Please would you increase the font size and have a quick link to the camera database thereby negating the need to work you way thto many pages to the database.
It seems to be written by Geeks who are notorious in trying to make an ass of me and you. |

So the great big speed camera icon at top left AND the speed camera downloads menu entry in the top navigation bar aren't enough for you then
Navigation of the site is an issue we are aware of as I tried to explain above, we started from very humble and small beginnings and lots of things were tacked on as we expanded. Hindsight is a wonderful thing! _________________ Darren Griffin |

It's probably a good idea to assume that if people say they have difficulty then they may have - even if it seems or is obvious (as Darren says, with hindsight) to some. Rather than risk making people feel silly about a suggestion they make in good faith, why not ask for clarification - sometimes (I know I nearly did) people have a problem but choose a bad example. The point may be that there is a lot of clutter which somehow obscures 'obvious' things. As an example, I only noticed today that there is a topic and category search sub-function, when I was thinking of suggesting one ! It is NOW obvious to me, but another example perhaps that all the text, etc surrounding these 'obvious' features does need simplifying (or of yet more dumbos on your books!).
Also I WRS that this is treated as a 'brain-storming' suggestions box with no deep consideration/justification yet. We all know that there are some things that may not happen, but if we don't ask, PGPSW will think we don't want. It's surely too early to start discounting solutions, or be on the defensive - better to wait till all the calls are in THEN prioritise on the basis of what people seem to rate most and consider possible action. Then practical solutions may suggest themselves for issues which at present seem too costly/difficult.
YOU DID ASK FOR SUGGESTIONS AFTER ALL ! _________________ David

it already IS in braille - can't you see the dotted border around it? or maybe your screen hasn't been upgraded to braile2.0 yet?

some of the smaller stuff (like making the "submit poi's" link more obvious) can be done nice and easily. in general we get so accustomed to the site as it is that these things get over looked.
more major things (like a complete site rebuild (heaven forbid!!)) take a little longer...

Thing is you never really know how bad a rebuild would be until you investigate it. Poking around the market place might reveal some interesting awnsers without the need to commit.
Maybe there is an update available! _________________ Dom

More constructively though, I do think that Google banner at the top of the page does nothing for the cosmetics of the site, and even at times just adds clutter. While it may need to be there for your agreements with google it probably could be better placed elsewhere.
Shouldn't the header of your site be for the benefit of the site not someone else. You could have all sorts of buttons up there! _________________ Dom

MaFt, tell me that you are winding us up....???
I cannot see a difference
I am away from my broadband again and am using my PDA as a modem to connect my laptop. Maybe my connection is missing a bit.... _________________ TT Go 720 (T)

Would it be possible to simplify the Message Posting Process please?
I find that anything more complicated than standard text and smilies causes me a lot of grief.
I once tried to post a photograph!
What a performance that was .
The computer nearly had flying lessons.
There is nothing wrong with copy and paste, if Bill Gates uses it, it must be OK! _________________ TT Go 720 (T)
