|
|
Hi there !
I have bought in January 2007 I think the Maps of western Europe v6.6.
It is still there on the tomtom web site under my "orders" and "products", but not under "My maps" anymore ...
Launching tomtom Home, I do not see them neither (I only see maps which are available to buy).
So I have found I could copy the set of maps from the devicde to the PC (What I have done) ... but what If my SD card was broken ?!?
P.S. This SD card is one I bought myself, and the maps I got them electronically.
Many Thanks ! |

Hopefuy I first did a backup before formatting the SD card, so now TT home allows me to reinstall the maps from the "desktop" (computer) ...
But what if I didn't had any backup, or if my SD card was broken ??? |

I think when you buy a map, you are entitled to download it for a year. Which emphasises the importance of keeping a backup!

you could always burn a copy when you buy a new map and keep the cd in a safe place |

if you downloaded the map from tt it will be in your documents folder on c drive, tomtom/home/download and it will be in a cab file. Unless your pc has been reformatted, you deleted it or your pc go's bang |

That is excatly what happened.
Hopefully I took a backup of my TT go before formatting the card.
I had re-loaded my PC - so I do not have the original file anymore ...
Since I'm reinstalling totally the device to have it clean, the big question is to know if the backup I took is as clean as the root file I downloaded from tomtom ... |
