Hi all,
I have recently converted from PC to Mac, and am aware that you are unable to use Satsync with the Mac.
Does anyone know if I can use it on Windows XP if I create a partion using Parellels? I have both operating systems on my Mac, but when in Windows XP (using Parallels) it keeps asking for me to connect the Active 10 and power on?
Any help would be much appreciated.
Regards,

Hi Richard,
I've used SatSync on VMWare Fusion, so I would hope that it should work on Parallels. It has been reluctant to find the Satmap unit at times, but disconnecting and reconnecting seems to do the trick.
I'd be a bit more reluctant to try a Satmap firmware upgrade from a virtual machine though.

Very intersted that Karen managed to get SatSYNC to see the Active 10. I'm running XP in Fusion v1.1.3 and have never managed to get the software to see the device. By "connecting and reconnecting" do you mean physically or through the "Virtual Machine - USB" menu. Any clues on how to get further than I am would be much appreciated. |

I've used it in Parallels successfully with a Vista installation. _________________ Darren Griffin |

Hi GSer,
Sorry for the long delay in replying. These days I'm running VM Fusion v2.0 on OS X 10.5.5 with SatSYNC v1.0.23 installed under Windows Vista Ultimate.
The disconnecting and reconnecting was physically rather than through the virtual machine USB menu. However, recently with the newer versions of the VM Fusion software I have had no problems getting Vista to recognise the SatMap. I start up SatSYNC and then plug in the SatMap (directly to the Mac rather than through a USB hub). Under USB Devices in the VMWare settings, both USB 2.0 support and Automatically connect are ticked. I hope that you manage to get it working.

I have also now updated to VMware Fusion 2 and now have no problems. Thanks for the help. |
