Coincidence - I've sent TomTom a second support question tonight asking the very same thing. Maybe it's our fault that IQ routing is not up to par, so they are withholding the free maps to punish us? _________________ Dennis

Well, that's just outrageous!!
On 26th March I received this email from the test support team ...
Quote: | Dear DennisN
Thanks you for participating in our Beta tester programme. We apologise for any difficulties you may have had with the software. The test trial has now come to an end and we will no longer be monitoring this email account. For assistance with the difficulties you are having with your device, please contact our customer support agents through your account at www.tomtom.com. Please log in and send your questions or update your discussion thread through your ‘my questions history’. In future we hope we can rely on you again for further research concerning our (new) products.
Thank you for helping TomTom make better products!
Best regards,
TomTom Technical Test Support Team | Which explains why, when I sent an email to them on 6th June regarding my free map, I received no reply.
I rather naiively believed you would work for the same company and might have some means of contacting the team. Am I wrong? Do you know any email contact details which I might use to follow up on this? _________________ Dennis

Dennis, surely they must do this as a wind-up. No one can be that slack or just dumb. |

I'm afraid it's not a wind up. I'm suicidally sure it's not a wind up. I have sent in a further attempt ...

I am asking you for help! PLEASE HELP. PLEASE HELP. PLEASE HELP.
In my previous comment, I included a quotation from the test team which said ..
"we will no longer be monitoring this email account."
So I said to you ..
"Do you know any email contact details which I might use to follow up on this?" |
I am beginning to feel insecure now! _________________ Dennis

I'm starting to worry now but for twice the number of reasons!!!
I'm currently doing the latest beta testing (I did the last one as well in Jan/Feb).
I'm now promised TWO free maps, the one from the Jan testing and also the one I'm testing now.
Here's hoping |

UPDATE
After further correspondence with Support which I won't bore you with, including me mentioning that v8 maps are now in pretty wide usage among the x20 community, I have now received this... Quote: | Dear Mr. N,
We have been informed about a e-mail correspondence going on with our support department and we would like to assure you that you have not been forgotten, but as the promised maps are not yet available for your device we can not offer these. Further we would strongly advise not to follow any instructions on forums explaining how to cheat the system in order to get maps that have not been designed to be used on certain devices, even though these might work it is not advisable to this as the usage of these maps might cause unforeseeable behavior and our support department will also not be able to assist with any issues coming out of this as these maps are not supported on these devices.
Again we want to assure you that you have not been forgotten and you WILL receive the maps once these have been officially been released for your device.
With kind regards,
TomTom Trial Technical Support Team |
