I have my speed cameras set to warm me if they are on my route, but is there a way I can get my tomtom to warn me if there is a camera on the road i'm driving on, even if I don't have a route planned without warning me if there happens to be a camera on a different road within 300 yards. |

No. There is 'On Route' in which mode you have to have a route planned or there is the 'off' in which case alerts work all the time but you do get more false alerts for cameras on adjacent roads etc.
I always use the 'off' option. _________________ Darren Griffin |

I would say no not realy because you either have them set to warn when on route or warn all the time when using second option you will get all cams within that area so you will be warnd of cam 300 yards on a different road the only way i can think of would be to reduce the distance but that would defeat the object and be pointless .
Also what setup you using as someone else might have found a workaround |

You could enter a destination (any destination) and set the device to use a 'silent' voice. Then you wouldn't get the spoken directions but would get the camera alerts. _________________ Anita

Nope, this is simply how the TomTom software works and there are no ways to change the specific behaviour itself.
TT could change it if they wanted to...
One thing they HAVE done over the years is make the definition of "only when on route" much broader. This means that cameras, for example, on the other side of dual carriageways or on the sliproad/roundabout off a motorway junction now tend to give false alerts when they didn't before.
Easiest thing to do is just always set a destination...
(and you could set a silent voice as Anita's just said too) |
