EU Traffic - where to start?

Hi,

I'm new to the site, so I'm not sure if I'm missing a big section on howto's etc... I've been reading a few forums and can't see if there's a definite place to start. Basically, I want to know the best way to get traffic updates in the EU mainland and the UK. (I know UK has its problems, so good mod tips etc. would be welcome).

For UK you need to subscribe to a particular supplier of information. The supplier is determined by the manufacturer of your sat nav unit. This is also true of some of the other European countries (e.g France). Some countries do have a free service - I have never used them - but I believe they are less reliable in the information they give you. YOur GPS sat nav unit supplier should be able to give you more info (try their web site).

For UK - the best results are had by connecting your unit TMC aerial (FM aerial) to an aerial outside the car body - e.g. the existing radio aerial. See the TMC forum for extensive discussion on how to and gotchas.

FWIW GARMIN units with TMC included usually have a 'free' life-time subscription to the UK service and they come with a free three monts (starting from first reception of information) for selected European countries
