Hi
I have the Aldi/Medion unit and have a coupe of questions.
Can you look at a map and then select a point and then get the unit to navigate you to it ?
Can you look at your current location and save that point ?
Also there is an option in the navigation menu called pre-defined destinations but this is always grayed out. Anyone any ideas what that is?
Thanks in advance

In Answer to your questions
Yes
Yes
Probably
The first 2 , view your map - click on black box in bottom right with up/down arrow . Box springs up , select marker flag icon & drop it on to your destination / current location .
Not sure on the last 1 - assume you can but will have to go & play in order to find out how ! |

There is no marker flag on the side menu when you bring your current location up!
Also is there any way of bringing the map up without having to go into the navigation screen and enter the town first ? |

As far as I am aware there is no way of recording your current position within the Medion software.
But, if you're feeling adventurous, there's a German shareware add-on for the Medion package which appears to add all sorts of functions including:
. a display of your current position in latitude and longitude;
. specifying a destination using GPS co-ordinates;
. displaying you average and maximum speeds (as numbers and graphs)
. showing your current, average, maximum and minimum altitude (also using graphs);
. showing an accurate time display derived from the GPS signals;
. varying the volume of your PDA announcements according to your speed or background noise levels;
. loading in your own maps and navigating around them;
. displaying the path of a journey, colour-coded to show your speed at each stage;
and much more.
The only snag (if you are not a linguist) is that the software and the accompanying Web site are in German.
But the author seems to update the software quite frequently and if there is enough interest in an English language version, he might produce one.
The shareware fee is €15.
So far, I haven't had the courage to install the software (called Glopus). But if someone else is more adventurous, I would like to hear about their experiences.
The Web site is here:
http://www.glopus.de/
and this should give you a Google translation:
http://translate.google.com/translate?u=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.glopus.de%2F&langpair=de%7Cen&hl=en&ie=UTF-8&prev=%2Flanguage_tools
To help you interpret this, Google translates GPS as "government inspection department", and maps as "cards". |

There is a very simple method...Just click on the number of satellites and you get your current position...
It works in Navigon MNBEE v1.5...No addons required... |
