I am not aware of a way to disable this, but it is noticable that when using RDS-TMC you get more prompts to continue on the same road than when it is disconnected - Mike |

Strange thing happened today. I've upgraded from 7.481 to 8.010 on my 720 and when I was driving home from Windsor to Ascot it took me a slightly different route 7.481 normally takes me, but what was worrying was that it also wanted me to go the wrong way down a road past a no entry sign in Winkfield!!! _________________ TTG 720

Well I guess that you have found out why they have given us MapShare!
The different route could be explained by the IQ routes, the map obviously doesn't know about the no entry sign so add this detail to your map and it won't route you that way again - Mike |

Hello Edwin, have you downloaded Mapshare updates? If you have chosen to accept all updates, someone may have closed a road off unwittingly. _________________ TT Go 720 (T)

Hi Mike, you beat me to it!
Am I right in thinking that IQ Routes are not available for the 720 yet? _________________ TT Go 720 (T)

The IQ routes data is contained within the vesion 8 maps which are currently only offered for purchase and download if you have an x30 device, there are some forum members reporting they have put a v8 map on their x20 units and it all works. The only problem with this is if the activation fails I very much doubt you would get much in way of support from TomTom - Mike |

Looks more like the REME badge to me. |

Hi stuart
Yes, you are quite correct, it is a REME badge. Perhaps I already knew and was just testing. Well, that’s my excuse. _________________ Tomtom Go 720.

Well just docked my 720 and Home told me about the New Nav core 8 so I duly downloaded it and gave it a quick look.
To my surprise there was an icon for the ALG in the menu I hit the button and was told that my map did not support this function. So off to Home I went back and saw a big advert saying 30% off all maps untill the end of june so I brought one through Home.
"AT NO POINT WAS I TOLD THAT THIS MAP UPGRADE WOULD NOT SUPPORT THE NEW FUNCTIONS OF NAV CORE 8"
and yes you all guessed it, it is an old map with some updates to the raods but not the new IQ and ALG infomation.
I have called TOMTOM support and have asked for a refund as this should not be happening, if I don't get my refund then I will set Visa card after them.
Because of the icon showing in the menu it is madness not to have the abilaty to use it
I will let you know what TOMTOM say

A good point...
TomTom SHOULD SAY SO.
All the more reason to keep your eyes on the topics and news posts on here though, then you'd have known that these v8 features need v8 maps. |

BackSeat wrote: | One difference I have noticed with 8.010 (on a 520) is that I now get a voice saying something like, "Continue on the A40 for the next 28 miles". This message is useless as it doesn't tell me anything I need to know, but it does interrupt any music playing from the TomTom. The message seems to play at random intervals, typically every 3-4 miles or so, but yesterday I had it three times in less than a mile.
What's really annoying is that I've come to rely on the TT only "speaking" when it has something important to say: a warning to turn right in 200 yards followed by the command to "turn right". Now I have to get used to the idea of ignoring some of the messages.
I've spoken to support, and they confirm that this cannot be turned off; they suggested turning the voice off completely if I find these message annoying.
Anyone else irritated by them?

Yesterday I was driving South down the A6 from Lancaster & my 520 told me to turn left ahead. I automatially headed for the next left turn but, being a little dubious about my location I checked the TomTom only to discover I was still almost 5 miles short of the correct left turn. A warning almost 5 miles in advance does seem a bit premature |
