|
|
I have a tomtom go 500 which was given to me to see if i could update it in anyway and load the france maps onto it.
Now here are a few questions i have.
After reading around here and other sites i can confirm the version of the TomTom Go 500 as
App: 7.162
Map: Great_Britian_Plus-Map v571
Now is it possible to update this software to a newer version. I have tried to use HOME but cannot get the device recognised most likely because it is version 5. Is there any available downloads for this at the moment also?
With regards to the france map - is there anything special i need to do with it as the sdcard at the moment is a standard tomtom 256mb card as far as im aware. Is it possible to copy it onto a larger card and install the france map and be able to use it alongside the GB plus map.
Also is there anything else i can do to the device to make it more up to-date.
Thanks.
EDIT - Just updated tomtom to later version.

A good read of the FAQs Page would be a good place to start.
It also covers copying the SD Card to a larger SD Card and installing Maps. _________________ Richard

To update the software:
The latest version of 'Home' (v2.3) cannot recognise older software. so you need to uninstall it and install Home v1.6. You then update the software as far as you can, and THEN uninstall it, reinstall v2.3 and continue updating again to get to the latest software.
Both versions of Home are available on the same page HERE. v1.6 is the RIGHT-HAND green box (confusingly called "for Navigator 6") and v2.3 is the LEFT-HAND one (for TomTom Go etc.)
For the map... yes. The easiest way to do it would be to copy EVERYTHJNG from your existing card to a new, larger one. Check that works OK first, and then use Home 2 to buy and install the new map to it. |

Just noticed replies as i was sat in the thread.
Now, i did the update from oldboy and then tomtom home worked fine. Now it is updated to the latest version.
Just copied the old stuff from the existing card to a 1GB card for the moment.
Thank you for the help so far.
Now with the france map, am i correct in saying, buy it, download it and tomtom home will install this? |

You buy, download and install ALL in Home.
You need the Go attached to the PC as you download the map, so it can be locked to your unit. |
