I have to admit I had a moment of doubt as I wrote that, and ended up looking at Google pictures of paintings of Nelson and even Nelson's column - NO EYEPATCH!
I'd just got to thinking "maybe it was the Duke of Wellington instead or am I going mad?" when (and you might not believe this..) I got a surprise visit from William G. Stewart (remember the "Fifteen to One" quiz show on Channel 4?) If anyone knows his general knowledge it's that man, and he assured me that Nelson DID have one eye, but he never wore a patch!
