Does anyone have such a file? Or an idea on how to make one myself?

My first and second attempts at doing this have failed but I have not given up all hope as yet!
What I am very disappointed with when using Route 66 version 8 is the total lack of custom POI support, this is a very major omission by the software team which will significantly steer people away from the application - it used to work with version 7 so why the heck they have removed this functionality (and refuse to answer e-mails on the subject) is beyond me. Oh and the regular lockups of the map display at the same point on my commute home every night........ - Mike |

Mike
On my R66 v8 the GPS signal meter seems to be showing no signal (red) when I have a good signal and loads of signal bars when I have no signal. A software error I guess.
I'm running on a Mio P360 and the auto rotation fails in low signal areas and I've had one lockup.
I like the smooth moving map though!!

The signal strength meter on the main navigation display does often display red and no reception even though the position is correct, I would say over 70% of the screen captures I have made in the past two weeks have shown this "feature"
I also find the map jumps around quite a lot while on the road, the position is accurate but the constant twirling around is a distraction which wasn't present in the previous version of this software. The PDA I am using this application on also has TomTom, Co-Pilot and a number of other GPS related applications which show no such problems so it isn't the hardware that is at fault (HTC Touch Cruise).
Whilst the software developers have added the current vehicle speed to the main display (a most welcome addition over the previous version 7 release) there are too many annoying glitches with this software for me.
No custom POI
TMC now costs via subscription (it was previously inclusive with purchase)
Erratic mapping display (visual distraction)
GPS reception strength miss reported most of the time
Maps that are 12 month old at time of purchase
Repeatable lockups of the nav screen
A bit of a lemon when compared to the previous version, yes it is cheap, but then add in the bolt on's such as TMC data via the GPRS connection on the phone and speed cameras from Route66 only, as there is no custom POI support in the application - this is ridiculous in this day and age. There are more capable packages that work more reliably than this, overall I am not impressed - version 7 was a decent application, the version 8 release is a step in the wrong direction - Mike |

Can anyone perhaps recommend a better product... I am trying to find something better than TomTom (shouldn't be difficult) and thought Route 66 was the product I was looking for.... But perhaps not...?
