Hi Guys
Just a Go730T as a replacement for a faulty 520 (£20) from Tesco
Anyhow as I had a GPRS subscription with the 520, as the RDS was next to useless I thought I would give both a go on the 730 with the new RDS Dongle.
First thing I noticed was how quick the RSD got a lock, it used to take ages with the 520, some times I could drive about for 2 hours and never get a lock.
Then did some routs to various places that I know have traffic issues all the time, thinks like Gatwick Airport etc.
The interesting thing was that using the GPRS service it showed delays on most of the routs, but using the RDS is showed no delays on any of them.
I thought RDS and GPRS used the same data.
Why such a difference in displayed data.

Paul, The RDS data will supply the information that is used to work out the delay information, not all restrictions have an associated delay though. The Navcore 8 software your device is running displays delay information whereas the Navcore 7 didn't work correctly in the UK.
Try tapping the TMC side bar to bring up the traffic menu and go to "Browse Map", zoom out and you will see red spots which are the delays, tap one of these and any associated information will be displayed, use the next arrow to scroll through the incidents, any with Yellow, Orange or Red colours to this will have a delay.
The only difference between the GPRS and RDS based service is RDS data is supplied regionally, and GPRS is full country coverage - Mike |

Thanks for the reply mike
Just found it odd that for the same local journeys the two systems should give such vastly different information
tt730 with GPRS traffic showing delays
tt730 with RDS Traffic showing no delays for the same routes
All routes tested were under 50 miles

What Navcore version are you running - the version that initially shipped with the x30s had the same RDS-TMC delay bug as Navcore 7 still has. Do a full back up using Windows Explorer and then update the device via TT Home. Navcore 8.010 seems to have fixed this issue (I think that is the version number for the x30s - Mike can correct me if I am wrong). |

You should get delay info then. I have had problems with cached traffic info when switching between GPRS and RDS-TMC.
Try it again with the RDS-TMC plugged in on power up and see if you get delay info. Make sure you have a route planned. |

I suppose the question has to be asked....
Which of the two was showing the correct delay?
