That's a quote mis-attributed to me.
I think you'll find it was Lola who said
'Useful? - hell no - so how do we get TT to correct their traffic info - the slip road had been closed for the last 6 months it turns out.
Any ideas?'
I'll put it down to a Christmas sherry or three !! |

Okay - back to the main topic thread.
I bought a 910 for crimbo. Updated to 6.522, bought an TMC antenna from Halfords only it is a V400.000. Managed one TMC lock in the house with the sucker on the window. Nothing in the car yet and I have driven about 150 miles.
Will the antenna V4 make a difference |

|
|
I have the 720T. Used the traffic receiver first time today 4th December 2007 on a trip to Plymouth. It struggled to get a connection, did a couple of times briefly but no information came down.
Set off back the next day and I got a green circle (connected) immediately but no info until I got to Bristol when it popped up that there was a lane closure on the M4 with a 12 mile tailback adding 3 hours,
Blimey I thought thats good, showed me a map and everything, I was about to re-route when I saw a Motorways sign confirming it but it said delay 30 minutes??? 3 hours?? 30 Minutes?
As it was the first traffic notifcation I decided to risk it and check and I got to Junc 15 in about 25-30 minutes, gritting my teeth expecting the worst... yes there was a lane closure and I went through at 70mph, no queue for 12 yards never mind 12 miles, delay? NONE!
So my first venture proved to be not only incorrect but ridiculously incorrect so right at this moment I have to say it seems absolutely worthless so I would caution first anyone thinking about spending £50 on it.
I bought it with the tomtom so was much cheaper but Im wondering now if Ive wasted that money?
If anyone has had a more positive experience I would love to hear about it
Cheers

Well congratulations on finding this topic :-) which is one year old now. What you've just described is a classic situation - you simply cannot trust this information, it can save you time or it can lose you time. |

Presumably all this is why Tom Tom are going with the new Vodafone-based mobile phone traffic information system in 2008. Anyone know when? |

Has this TMC traffic info system got any better yet or is it not worth bothering with ?
Any recent information would be appreciated as I now have a TT 920 and don't know whether to splash out on the TMC bit. |

Unless you are running Navcore 8.010 on the 920 don't bother as it doesn't work.
When TT re release Navcore 8 for the x20s at least the delay info will work and make the device useful.
The reception and quality of the info is another matter....... |

Yes, the latest version of the software - v8.010. If you haven't got it, you might struggle to find it, as TomTom withdrew it after it had been available for a dy or so. If you try to upgrade your device now, you will only be offered v7.481. |
