Greyed out 'Car Preferences'

Any ideas when, or even if, this 'feature' will be enabled? I'm guessing that this is an option to set things like speed, and as a fair bit of my motoring is in a car thats flat out at just over 50 this is something I'd like. At the moment I'm forced to use 'avoid motorways' as a sort of substitute, but that then routes me around them when its sensible even at my speeds to use them!

Sorry, can't help with the crystal ball stuff (and isn't it illegal nowadays?).

But instead of Avoid Motorways, choose Limited Speed (55mph?).

Or take a passenger who is willing to help with the pedalling.

Now I am beginning to suspect you drive one of those machines with big mudguards, levers all over the steering wheel and a jump seat in the boot for the butler? All that, or a chimney?

Nothing quite so vintage! No, I'm talking about Morris Minors, some of whom in our little convoy are pedal to the metal at 60 or less, but for all day motoring you need to take ten or so off that otherwise your eardrums burst before the end of the day. Latest ones have an alarmingly powerful 1098cc engine, and are actually reasonably nippy in town traffic, but others of us limp along with the 'gutsy' 918cc lump instead, which if I remember rightly had a 0-60 time of 31 seconds when new!
When we nip (well, limp) across the channel each year, theres anything between 70 and 120 of us, and if you get a couple of dozen of us in convoy we can create traffic jams that take whole days to iron out! Just think yourselves lucky that we do it over there and annoy the French rather than you. That said, its our annual rally this weekend, so if I were you lot I'd avoid the Leicestershire area around Stamford Hall - there's alleged to be over a thousand Minors going...

My second car (1964) was a secondhand Minor 1000 Traveller with wooden trim and overhead valves!! The very first with one piece windscreen (1956?). Of course, in those days it was perfectly possible to find a long enough, clear enough stretch of road to overtake after taking a long run building to 50mph, right up their bumper, then yank the wheel over and slingshot past at 2 mph faster than they were doing. I was Aaaaard, even in those days.

Respect for annoying the French.

I use to have an ex GPO (Post Office for you younger members) Morris Minor van that had spent its working life on Wales.

Picked up from one of the regular auctions of GPO vehicles, cost me £75. Was great around town, in fact was quick of the mark till you hit about 20mph then everything started to pass you as top speed was about 60mpg - eventually.

Heater was fantastic with only one problem the control value was very iffy and a summers day may just find you with a full on heater.

Wipers were just about acceptable and the brakes were not very brake like.

Did many, many miles in the Moggy (as we called it) and sold it after 2 years for £120. Did break a couple of half shafts in the time, very cheap from scrap yards.

By far the best value motoring I've ever had. It won't be long before a tank of fuel costs that much!
