Many thanks for the quick reply, how long did Navigon take to deliver the unit?
Also what do you think of it now you have been using it for a while, I have tried many different programs on my vga pda but allways liked Navigon 6. I have been waiting eagerly for this device to be released,
Regards

I only had to wait about a week I think, hard to tell as I ordered mine the day they went on sale.
I do think there has been some demand, but I think people who have ordered have received them in about a week.
The UPS shipping takes about 2 days from Germany.
Really like the unit, love the size and clarity of the screen... only thing that is lacking at the moment is a way to import our own POI's _________________ Navigon 8450 LIVE |

I can confirm the quick delivery, at least as at the beginning of June. It took about 3/4 days, from ordering through the German site to delivery (Don't forget to use the 15% coupon!!!!!) _________________ David

Hi,
I am now in two minds about whether to cancel my order. I like many of you are keen to see the Navigon 8110 have a facility for importing our own POIs.
I asked Navgion 8110 if they were working on bringing this facility to the 8110 this was the reply I received:
"Dear Madam, Dear Sir,
At this moment we are not working on a add-on in order to make it possible to use your own POI's, if this will be done in the future we can not tell you at the moment.
Yours sincerely

I didn't get an answer to whether POI Warner will be able to support the product from Navigon ie is an API available for 3rd Parties to use. It seems a great device and I really want to like it but I had hoped that custom poi support in one form or another was not too long in the offing. However information from POI-Warner and now Navigon seems concerning to say the least.
As currently my order is 2-3 weeks from delivery I will think about it some more. However I have to admit my current thinking is to cancel and then watch this space.
EZ

A quickie please. I haven't found any mention of an instant 'on request' detour option, with/without length of detour option, as on nuvi, viamichelin. Only options I can find are blocking turns and diverting on traffic trouble info, but I hit a BIG M25 jam without any warning yesterday - as I was using the VM, I put in a 20km divert which worked an absolute treat. Anyone come across any such detour function yet on the 8110? _________________ David

Yes the function is there, but can't remember at the moment where it is. will have a look later. I know its the same as the VM one where you just say block for x number of miles. _________________ Navigon 8450 LIVE |

Thanks jonandmarkuk.
I've been trying to register the device and am being sent round in circles between Fresh and the website page for MyNavigon. Did you manage to register? If not does it matter (everything on my 8110 got backed up, updated and rebooted ok)? _________________ David

If you purchased it from Navigon it should already be registered. Go into your 'My Navigon' page on the website and look under registered products.
Ensure you used the same e-mail and password for the Navigon Fresh software that you used when you ordered.
Mine was straightforward to do, if you still have trouble try contacting support to see what's happening. I believe the device has to tie to the purchase account in order to allow for Navigon to verify your ID should you ever lock yourself out of the unit with the pin.
Right just checked where it is.
Go to 'my Navigon' on the website
Select 'My Products' and 'Registered Products'
Then you should see something like this;
Product name: 8110
Device: NAVIGON 8110
Date: 08-May-2008
Software: Navigon 8110 MN7 PNA EU with FreshMap
State: activated
If you are using Firefox and updated to 3.0 then you won't be able to get into the 'My Navigon' site. I had to use IE... yuck (worked fine in the beta of Firefox 3) _________________ Navigon 8450 LIVE |

Are you using Firefox 3 ? Seems strange that 'my Navigon' stopped working for me when updating to Firefox 3 yet works fine in IE.
I think it's a bug in the final release of Firefox as other websites are acting up with Firefox 3 too
So far I want to roll Firebox back to the last beta release as that worked better. _________________ Navigon 8450 LIVE |

Just seen a overview review comparing the 8110 to the TT930.
In the 8110 and TT930 score the same 455 out of 500 points, but in the table the 8110 is placed number 1.
The TomTom and 8110 share the number 1 slot on the chart

Thanks again for the helpful replies on registering the 8110. I was still going round in circles and so did contact the support people. The reply I got was:
thank you for contacting Navigon.
You can registrate your device the following way:
Connect your device with your computer.
Open the programm navigon fresh, in navigon fresh click the link my navigon device (under corner at the left) and follow the instructions on your screen.
I hadn't got the unit connected when I was trying this before, so will try their suggestion as soon as I get a chance. Others who have been experiencing the problem may find the reason was the same (assuming it works ).
Thanks also to jonandmarkuk re my detour question - I found this to be the 'block' option, which comes up when you touch the screen during navigation. A hell of a lot simpler than VM's tortuous multi-menu searching! _________________ David
