|
|
I'd just about decided to buy a GO 930 when I started reading this forum (which is really helpful - and addictive!) and vaguely remembered lots of problems I had when I upgraded from Navigator 5 to 6. I'm now starting to fear that because I already have Home 1.5 registered to a PDA with Navigator 6 I might have problems when I try to install a new device.
It was a few years ago now that I upgraded and I can't remember the exact details but I recall it was something to do with my account not being linked (Tomtom support eventually helped me to fix this but I never really understood it) and not being able to get a device code because I couldn't find the right application file. It was a complicated rigmarole and if I thought I had to go through anything like that again with the TT 930 I'd probably end up getting a Nuvi 760 instead.
Can anyone put my mind at rest? |

I run different sat navs within Tomtom home and as long as you register each device to a different email address you will be fine |

What I did when I changed from a PDA to a Go720 in April was to create a new TT account with a different email address. Then in mt original account I changed the email address to the new, temporary account.
that left my original account with no device so I was able to add the new Go to it.
then I sold the PDA with TTN6 and changed the email address on the new account to that of the purchaser and gave him a new password that he could then change himself.
that worked fine. Otherwise wait for DennisN because he knows just a little about using multiple devices on multiple accounts. _________________ TT Go Essential |

Thanks for the info folks. It sounds encouraging. I've been swinging between the two devices for ages but now I want to make a final decision and get my new unit in the next couple of weeks before I go on holiday. Until I had these installation concerns I had more or less convinced myself that the 930 seemed to suit my needs better so I'm now back on course to get one. Thanks again for your help. |

Yes, many thanks John, the link is really helpful. The Dixon's deal looks good at £320 (although they're currently out of stock). Mind you, and risking going a bit off-topic, the 730T deals look very tempting and are making me question whether I really want EPT (since I don't need the USA maps). |

Hello Nakkaned, don't do it! Save yourself £30.00 odd, get the 730 without traffic. Traffic is one of the most expensive lumps of wire that you will ever buy. I would not say that I am biased but, It does not work! _________________ TT Go 720 (T)

The problem with that is that TomTom have not released V 8.010 properly yet, it was released for a few hours then retracted. _________________ TT Go 720 (T)

Nakkaned is thinking of getting a 930 for which it is available. _________________ Anita

I'm much the same myself tonight, Tom, but I put it down to senility rather than dyslexia!
I just didn't want nakkaned getting confused too. _________________ Anita
