Just wondering why there are no mobile sites in the database?, i know of several spots around my area.
Is there likely to be an inclusion of these in future releases at all? |

I believe the policy is that mobile sites can be added if people submit them.
If you submit mobile sites, make it clear which sites are mobiles, so that they can be marked as such and hopefully people will not then report them as false!

Hi Razer,
A month or two ago, Darren started to compile a POI for mobile sites. However all of the folks at PocketGPS World have been busy. Hopefully he’ll look at it when he’s got some time.

As Privateer has said, I have begun a seperate mobile camera location database, if I get enough submissions I'll launch this in the June release.
The problem we had was there was no way of differentiating between fixed and mobile in the original database. As a result many valid mobile 'haunts' were reported as being false Gasto locations as understandably when the reader drove past there was nothing there on that occasion'.
With the new system, the seperate database uses a different Icon of a Gatso on a Tripod to indicate a mobile site which may or may not be live. The version 1.0 database with one or two locations in is available here and I will publish it officially with a lot more entries in June. In the meantime feel free to download it and add sites to it as you find them and don't forget to submit them! It would help me greatly if you could flag the submission as 'MOBILE CAMERA' so I can sort them more easily _________________ Darren Griffin |

A stretch of 50 mph dual carrageway near to me is a popular haunt both ways at different points over a mile each way for mobile cameras. A lot of people I know have had tickets from here. What would be the best way to record this stretch. Would a few entries be better or just one?

Probably two, one at either end. I say this because when we create the database updates we put the data through a filter to weed out entries closer than a hundred metres as these are normally duplicate entries. Two locations a mile apart will escape this process and give plenty of notice to approaching drivers _________________ Darren Griffin |

Raser - It seems to work OK for me. I installed it last night in the same manner as the main database and I can view mobile sites in the 'map' view of TomTom. There aren't many sites in there however, certainly none around my area so haven't been able to check it fully.
Hello everyone btw, this is my first post on the forum. I've had my
IPAQ/TomTom combo less than a week but am now fully installed with the
camera databases. My thanks go to the people who've put this together,
quite an act of public spiritiness in this day and age. I hope to offer my
support in anyway I can to help with this service. |

A quick question about the filter software mentioned in the above post.....
There is a junction were i live yhay has two red light camers at the pointing in different directions (i dont really want to get into the should we shouldnt we debate ) how should these be recorded so they are not filtered out.
Cheers |

Ok ignoring the should we/shouldn't we issue regards red light cameras, a single entry recorded at the junction will be sufficient, if you record both and they are within 100m of each other then onw will be discarded. It doesn't affect the warnings, they are not direction dependent anyway and so you will still receive an alert as you approach the junction.
I am no longer adding red light camera entries to the main database, these will be made available as a seperate download from June, following that I'll be asking for notifications of any red light cameras that remain in the main database, if any one has graphics skills and wants to have a go at designing a suitable icon for this database then I'll happily receive them _________________ Darren Griffin |

The problem with this junction is one light covers people comeing from the North and the other from the East
It is a cross roads and if u r looking at the screen it shows only one camera so if u were coming from the other direction u would think there is no camera there (i am not condoning people who jum lights btw!!!!!)

Hi Darren,
Are you still after an icon for the red light camera POI? As I've just created one.
