Hi,
This is more or less a repost of something I dropped into the traffic forum so my apologies to anyone who is here for a second time! (I didn't know this forum was here)
I have got a ViaMichelin GPS x970T and a Nokia E50 mobile phone. I live in France on the border with Switzerland
I see from the other similar topics in this forum that I am not the only one with this problem - however I still can't get it to go
I have paired the phone with the X970T using Bluetooth; GPRS is working on the phone, however I am unable to get the GPRS connection to work from the X970T to the phone. (Tests OK, but connection fails)
I think (but don't know - I'll try anything!) the problem is in the service code that the GPS device sends to the phone on connecting, which is *99#. I have searched on the internet (and also in other topics here) and there is some evidence that this is the correct code to send, however it is a company phone and the dept that gave it to me say that there is no service attached to this code. Certainly when I tap it in on the phone I get 'Unknown Application'.
Anyone got any other suggestions what code I could send, please? Or what the service is underlying the traffic data feed so I can do some searches on this? Or anything else that might help?
I've activated the GPRS service on the internet.
Many thanks for your help in advance! |

Use a BT enabled PC or laptop and try the same - to establish a GPRS connection via the nokia. Much easier to debug.
*99# is correct, but you can't use that when dialing manually. _________________ Lutz

Unfortunately I used to find sometimes the GPRS would connect and another time fail miserably.
Compounded by the fact that a hard reset, resets all the BT and GPRS I gave up ever getting it working.
The odd times I was able to connect though the service was good and nice to get weather information. Could never figure out how to get the 'quick destination' to sync though.
Part of me thinks it's a function that just went unfinished when VM pulled the plug.
I still think they gave up in the market too soon, they were starting to appear in high street shops and now anyone who knows the background would think twice about buying a 'defunct' product _________________ Navigon 8450 LIVE |

BT enabled PC was a good idea - unfortunately (!!!) It works with whatever phone number I put in. In fact I am typing this using the GRPS connected over bluetooth from my Mac.
To make sure I am not connected by any other means I have switched off the Wireless Network I have.
In my mind, this more or less limits the problem to the x970T which makes JohnandMarkUK's reply all the more worrying.
Thanks for the feeds guys! If you have any more ideas I would appreciate them!

Does anyone have any views on whether this could be a Windows CE thing?
I spotted this whilst googling,
http://www.geekzone.co.nz/forums.asp?ForumId=6&TopicId=10975
which gives a [very lateral] hint that MS have not implemented this functionality with all the due care that one might have hoped for (if not expected!).
Views anyone?
(I'm assuming that the x970T is based on Windows CE - I was sure I saw it whilst browsing with syncmanager)

Might seem like a silly question but have you registered the GPS service on the My ViaMichelin website? You need to enter a code there - which you get from the Content Manager. _________________ ViaMichelin X-980T

I would suggest that you 'borrow' someone elses phone and see if you can get it working. _________________ Navigon 8450 LIVE |

Tried a nokia E51 and (same problem) and two motorola's (not sure what model) which both failed on making the connection with GPRS. |
