A manual install as shown earlier in the thread is all that I use, it does everything that Home will do, formating memory cards/ Flash memory etc is certainly not advisable unless something is wrong with the device - updates don't require that level of messing around - Mike |

Rather sadly, no, it doesn't. |

Try a return to factory settings (in the preferences menu) and/or deleting the MapSettings.cfg file from the map folder (the system creates a new one when it re-boots).
That usually fixes it for me.
You WILL lose your personal settings like POI alerts, home location and recent destinations etc. though. |

Has anybody else found that using MapShare with v8.010 deletes all warnings for PGPSW cameras?
I've consistently found that the camera warnings have been removed from my 720 after using MapShare (either uploading, downloading or both) since updating to v8.010, although warnings remained in place with v7.
The use of MapShare with v8.010, therefore, appears to require the re-input of camera warnings after each use
Last week, I also had an instance where the camera warnings worked on my journey to work, but they didn't work on the journey home with the unit not being touched in the meantime - I put this down to a blip or 'senior moment'.
EDIT: I don't have any other POI warnings set, so don't know if it's unique to the PGPSW database or if other POIs are also affected in this way _________________ Andy

No such problem so far, Andy.
If it starts now I shall blame you. _________________ Anita

I thought it was me, but then the penny dropped and I've just played with MapShare and proved a link on my 720.
Of course, Anita, your 720 is different because it was a free PGPSW competition prize...and my name has just changed to DennisN _________________ Andy

To add to the knowledge base...my experience with a GO 720 in Australia.
I downloaded the CAB file from here for 8.010 and extracted it over the files in memory as described here (after backing up!). Upgrading from v7.221. Map is Australia 700.1491.
The 720 is working normally (phone handsfree, navigation etc) and I have the faster start-up and shutdown. FM works fine but is different. Volume settings only work on internal speaker with fixed volume on FM. However, volume is quite acceptable on FM so I see this as an advantage with no need to adjust when switching.
I have tested ASR (I had this working using the ASR hack described elswhere for the "lips" only in 7.221). In 8.01 I now have full functionality including Dialogue options.
Mapshare is working on the map and I can make corrections....I also found 130 corrections on-line and have confirmed they are in the Aust map folder. Mapshare was not operational on the Aust map on v7.xxx.
One possible glitch is that with GPS Quickfix after the first connection after reboot I get a message saying I have "no subscription". I say possible because if I wait some time it appears to work...may be a server issue. No big deal anyway as I normally update via HOME which is working.
Overall, I'm very impressed with the update and see no major problems so far...and have gained significant functionality.

I see they still haven't done a proper fix of the FM transmitter clipping which was present in the last incarnation of 7.xxx. Still locked at full blast with volume sliders for jukebox and system still there for us to fiddle about with and wonder why nothing happens. For Mp3 playback it sounds truly awful in both the car and motorhome.
Back to 7.221 for me until they either fix it or give me something I can't live without that wasn't there before.
It annoys me that this is a feature they shout about on the packaging/marketing and must be a simple software fix for a programmer in an afternoon but it's gone through several cr*p revisions without change and seems forgotten. _________________ Tom Tom GO 720

That seems pretty standard for them. They try to rush things out and either break something else in the process, or end up with a half-finished implementation that never gets tidied up.
Right from the days of the Go 300, I always said the itinerary screens had a different "look and feel" to them as if they had been done in a rush by a different team. Even that never got properly "finished" to my mind.
Anyway, the version of 8.010 for the x20 models has even been removed from the "backdoor" TT servers now... |

Before the update if I removed the memory card from my TomTom I had to use the reset button to make it boot again, no longer have that problem, so thats good. |

Just put the 8 app on my 910. At the moment all appears fine although interestingly the lane guidance icon does not show up as it did on my 720. |

First post, Hi
Yes I have found my 920 T wipes all warnings for PGPSW cameras when I update Mapshare. I'm running 8.010 with v7.20 maps.

Finally managed to install Navcore 8 after hours of trying (finally uninstalled application using HOME, then reinstalled version 6 then 7 then 8). Well worth it apart from loss of compass (I have written to TomTom).
I have a ONE XL and cannot change the car symbol (even with TomTomHeaven).
Also cannot use Roberto Piola's altimeter anymore - http://www.ilpiola.it/roberto/TomTom/ - presumably because some of the back door access has been closed.

How odd that some people are having so varied an experience. I must be luck, in that the update to 8.010 with v715 maps has had no issues at all. The camera warings are there, so is Speech Recognition and I have the Altimeter working just as it did when it was installed on 7.481
Is it the combination of everything together - device, maps, add ons? [/quote] _________________ Ric - TomTom 520 DEAD - Passed to the great traffic jam in the sky. Now using Maps & Waze on Samsung Galaxy S4 + CamerAlert of course! |
