Just wondered if anyone has had any communication problems with SatMap.
I emailed them over a week ago and have had no reply to a major concern I have with my unit freezing. Personally, I am less than happy with the whole situation, my unit simply does not work properly! I have to disconnect the battery once, twice maybe three times during a walk!
I find it very difficult to telephone during the day as my boss does not like employees making personal calls, therefore, I have no alternative but to use the email service on the SatMap website.
I wonder where I stand with asking for a full refund?

Have you tried calling, if it's an important issue that would seem to be the best route? _________________ Darren Griffin |

robs1972 - Usually between 8 & 12 miles.
Darren- As I pointed out in my original post, it's very difficult for me to phone during office ours, so email is my only option. When I first bought the unit, I emailed with a question and they answered within 24 hours. I personally believe that they don't have a solution to this problem at the moment.
Incidentally, when I emailed the shop where I bought the unit and explained the problem, he said that he would forward my comments to SatMap but I should expect the occasional crash due to it being a Microsoft operating system!!!!!!!!

Well you're not alone, mine does that after 3-4 hours use...and then again a couple of hours later....it's being doing that since October. I'm using a half GB mapcard and believe that is the problem rather than too many routes loaded etc. Satmap are addressing it so sit tight. _________________ I like mapping, I like mapping, I like mapping and I like to map! |

Just received an email from SatMap saying that they are aware of the problems and have a beta version of the upgraded software available if I contact them. I think i'll wait until it has been tested fully before I install.
Cheers

FWIW
I had a lot of problems with an early version of Anquet 6 on my PDA. I was offered and took early beta releases. I found that I had very good access to and responses from the development staff (via email) during this process - which eventually produced a good working version.
I would seriously consider accepting their offer. No s/w nowadays is 'fully tested' - they can't reproduce every possible situation. (E.g. I was walking on High Street and I pressed this then did that and the display isn't right... sort of thing) At least they have control over the hardware so you should be fairly well covered that it isn't going to 'break' your system. _________________ Phil |
