when you go to "my Garmin" you are given the choice to download a large file which will take a few hours or order DVD for a few quid....
they have no DVD's in stock so after two attempts managed to download file to desktop. once you open you have to put in your product key and download to nuvi commences.....
Problem is it keeps failing, and I have tried to install maps about 10 times now.....
any one have an idea please
Plus it has removed street level maps for USA from 770
P.S. BUT it has installed new street level maps to my PC!. So...I guess I can always download from there like I did with old 2610. By highlighting mapping area and downloading. will talk to garmin first before I do this. |

Rats. I got mine in December. Oh well. I suppose I'll upgrade eventually. I wish I that there was a way to know what street updates were made. _________________ Garmin Nuvi 750 w/City Nav 10 N. America & 08 Europe

Previously I was using a prehistoric version of "metroguide USA" with my 2610. and we managed with trips to California and Florida for years.....
it was so old development west of Miami airport was still scrub land
But main routes and hotels etc.....don't change that much. plus you can import any address as a waypoint..... |

Where I live near Boston MA, we just finished a 10 year construction project (Big Dig) that put the major highway and many exits underground and many new above ground connectors in place. Even though I currently use NT 2008, some of the streets are still wrong. _________________ Garmin Nuvi 750 w/City Nav 10 N. America & 08 Europe

Just got my 770 today - after registering, I went to 'My Garmin' only to find they want to charge me $70 for the priviledge of an update!!!! I'll have to call Garmin and see if they can sort it out, otherwise, the unit is going back! |

Well, the upgrade is still available.
Just got a refurb 660 for a great price to replace my tomtom 930 and went to mygarmin- good for a free 2009 upgrade. Dloaded it in 1.5 hours and installed with only one hitch.
If your using a mac, you have to use firefox. It wouldn't work right in Safari as the plugin never loaded correctly. Even in firefox you have to install the plugin (automatically) then restart firefox, which is not really stated clearly so it looks like it failed at first but it works fine.
Just a heads up to other osx users. |
