Hi all!
My TTBT GPS died and I've just recieved my replacement unit. On the back of this unit, there's now a SiRF XTrac logo, and it behaves rather differently that the old one.
At first I was excited, wow, a free upgrade to XTrac - BUT in fact, it seems as though it's actually a downgrade... Why?
First off, it doesn't have heightened sensitivity - I've tested a colleages "vanilla" TTBT GPS head to head with this new one, and they perform equally bad in hard conditions.
Second, this new unit is completely bogging the system down! I tried a hard reset of my iPaq H4150, installing nothing but GPS Tuner and GPS Dash - when connecting to the new XT TTBT GPS both applications stall every second! In GPS Tuner, if I set the refresh interval up to 5 seconds, it stalls for 5 seconds! Setting it down to 1 second, and it stalls for 1 second... Stalls == Click the screen, and there's from zero to 5 seconds delay, before the command is executed, is the refresh is set to 5 seconds... So somehow in between updates from the GPS, the application is totally unresponsive! - The rest of the system is running fine and smooth, all the while, btw...
REALLY ANNOYING!
Does anybody have similar experiences? Or is it just a matter of convincing TomTom that this unit too, is defective, and I'd rather have a new "vanilla" unit instead og the apparantly XT enabled v2?!?
