|
|
Have recently bought the TomTom BT GPS and intend to get a PocketPC soon. But in the mean time, thought I'd try it with my m505 equipped with a Palm BT SD card which the packaging said would enable the Palm to connect to any BT device.
However, the software with the BT card only offers connections to PC, Lan or Mobile - I have tried with each of these with the GPS on and sat next to the m505, but no joy.
Does anyone know if there is a way to fool the software into thinking that the GPS is a PC, Lan or Mobile; or are there upgrades to the software from Palm / elsewhere...?
Many thanks,
Wobbly. |

The 'mobile' option was your best bet, but I suspect that's using the Dial-Up profile rather than the Serial Port one.
The Palm / Bluetooth card combination you describe is quite old and sounds as if it doesn't support that many Bluetooth devices. I doubt much can be done about it, though if you can track down newer software it might help.

|

Thanks for your top tips David - in the process of searching for extra software, I found a site that recommended a different way of making the connection (using Bluetooth Prefs and initiating a trusted pair) which works!
However, when I run my Fugawi software, I can't get any GPS data - the 'info' screen from the 'GPS' drop down menu shows 'No Fix'.
Any ideas? |

No idea - sorry. You need the ability to make an outgoing Serial Port Profile connection to your GPS - I have no idea whether the Palm Bluetooth software supports that, as I'm a Pocket PC user.

The Fugawi software on Palm has more options than my ancient TomTom 'CityMaps' including to change the baud rate and port number - but I don't know what to set these to...(any ideas someone?) |

Unless the fudge you have implemented to pair the devices also provides a BT Serial Port Profile then no amount of twiddling with the settings in Fugawi is going to make any difference.
Successfully pairing the devices does not mean that the BT SPP exists and it is likely that this is your issue, sorry _________________ Darren Griffin |
