Have you therefore had TWO free map updates then? I simply dare NOT download v715 in case it jeopardises my chances of v720. |
Yep I did get two. One the first day because my unit had an old one and another yesterday after a long battle. |

Newbie question...
I have a new 920. It has 710 maps and I'm currently trying to get TomTom support to give me the latest (proof of purchase/serial number etc).
Can someone tell me if it's possible to download the newer maps onto the SD card and so have both versions installed at once? This seems prudent in case there are issues with the newer version, assuming I eventually get it. |

Assuming you eventually get "IT" should be "THEM" - you have THREE maps - Guam, North America and Western & Central Europe, of which NA and W&CE need to be updated. You may find it hard work to persuade TomTom to give you both, so be VERY insistent. Others have succeeded before you.
Yes, you can have different versions on SD card and internal memory. To have them all on a card, you'll need (minimum) a 4GB SD card. Have the card inserted when you connect to Home to do the downloads and when you connect, select the external memory card when it asks you, then the downloads will go onto the card.
Age old question - have you done a backup using Windows Explorer yet?
Update on my saga! They now want my serial number. And each time I reply, it's another two days before they get back to me. _________________ Dennis

Apologies for multiple postings...
OK, I'm getting to grips with this now.. I think...
I have software version 7.481.
I have maps 710.1576.

You're correct - I have 3 maps. They are all 710.1576.
New question - I think, from other postings, that the unit can read SDHC cards - is that right? I did try to find out for sure from reading the manual, but I didnt see any reference to HC cards. |

SDHC will work fine in your unit but there is little point in going above 4GB at the moment as the device cannot write to the higher memory addresses on the card.
I use an 8GB SDHC in my devices which is fine for music but not much use for maps, the reason being the device trys to write to the map folder (MapSttings.cfg file) and cannot do this with an 8GB or larger card - 4GB SDHC are fine though.
If all you want is read access i.e. music the larger cards are fine, if your SDHC card is for maps stick to 4GB - Mike |

I had a long day out yesterday, so I only managed to see the message from TT support Quote: | The latest map has been assigned to your account for you to download. | that blunt, is all.
This morning I tried Latest Map Guarantee button and it said "Get Lost!! You've got the latest map."!!!
I then hit "Update my ONE" and it offered me map v720 (GB & Eire). It took less than three minutes altogether to download and install.
So my opinion that they have not fixed Latest Map Guarantee still persists - they've given me the latest map, but NOT via Latest Map Guarantee. _________________ Dennis

Shouldn't it have offered you Western & Central Europe, or Western Europe at least?
But congratulations on getting anything out of TomTom. _________________ Anita

I finally got my map upgrade today, after about three weeks of jumping through hoops.
Firstly the LMG server was broken.
Then, I sent them a copy of my receipt and my device serial number.
Then the LMG server was broken.
Then I was escalated.
Then the LMG server was broken.
Then I sent them screenshots of my error message, my map info and my device ID.
Today the map is available to download, but do not look in the Use Latest Map bit, 'cos it's not there!
If you do a normal Update using home, that is where it should / could be. _________________ TT Go 720 (T)

Alas, no Anita - the ONE 3rd edition, cheapo free with Renault vans is regional and comes ONLY with GB & Eire and so LITTLE memory AND no SD card slot, that GB & Eire is the WHOLE shooting match - and rest assured, I tell you this only for informational purposes, NOT with any sense of superior knowledge. As I said, Alas, would that it were NOT so. _________________ Dennis

I received my TT730T last wednesday and after backing up everything in 6 different places (DVD,SDHC,Home,Mem Stick etc)I went for the latest update for map and it gave it to me straight away.
Maybe I was just lucky. _________________ Garmin Nuvi 2699lmt

Having waited over a week for tt support to provide the latest map for my new 720 I've found this forum which shows I'll be having problems getting them to keep their end of the guarantee.
Maybe Drivesmart wasn't the only con with good technology . |

CAN ANYONE CLARIFY THE POSITION FOR x30 / v8.xx USERS PLEASE?
That is to say, our devices come with 800.1762 map
BUT, as I follow all this, the map the 730 comes ready supplied with is now named "Western AND CENTRAL Europe".
For the older 720, it was just plain "Western Europe".
To confound this, it seems that for PURCHASE options, you can now buy an updated v8 map, but so far, only of "Eastern Europe", or of "Western Europe".
I cannot see any option of a "Western AND CENTRAL Europe" update map available for purchase, for x30 users, so thus no option for an LMG upgrade or account accreditation one either, if there is NO Map to actually be given.
So in anticipation of either using my LMG once TT add my new device to my account, or if that's down and I need to go down the Email and proof of purchase route, what exactly am I aiming for here...
What are new 730 users actually getting now, under LMG, or "Added to account" crediting...?
Or is there no current map to actually update to, in a single map sense.
God, how confused have Tom Tom got me with all of this name convention changing all of a sudden etc. |

When I fired up my X30 for first time I had
Maps; Western and Central Europe v800.1762
Using Home and LMG I now have
Maps; Western and Central Europe v805.1801
There was no paperwork in the box with refernce to LMG, only a page in the booklet telling you how to update within 30 days _________________ Garmin Nuvi 2699lmt
