Which speed camera detection program will work then, navteq was not in the compatibility list, I am new to sat nav/pda, all i know is it is a medion mdppc250, when you start the navigation software it says Navteq Onboard, not quite sure what you mean by sync, but it has worked fine straight out of the box, i tried Travel-i but it says "no gps unit", the gps receiver is a Royaltek RGM-2000, any help with a speed camera location program is much appreciated. thank you. |

Let's assume you bought this at Aldi or Halfords. The software is from Navigon. Navteq is merely the map data provider (and they have forced Navigon to put that "Navteq on board" marketing blurb on their program...yikes)
So, check your compatibility lists for Navigon - I remember seeing it mentioned, particularly for the german POI Warner tool. _________________ Lutz

None of the TomTom POI warning programs will work with the Navigon software - they plug in using a TomTom API not present in the Navigon software.
The standalone version of Trafcam or Traffic-i will not work either, as only one program can connect to the GPS at once. In your case, Navigon is using the GPS.
The clever part of the TomTom API is that you can buy an SDK to plug into TomTom programs and receive the GPS data from them. In other words, the TomTom program connects to your GPS, and you can write add-in programs that connect to the TomTom program to get the GPS data.

That's the one I was trying to remember - thanks Lutz.
There are no free programs for the Navigon software, and, as my previous post says, neither TomTom nor standalone POI warning software will work. That said, this one seems to have quite a following.

Thanks for all the help guys in pointing me in the right direction i will get poi warner down, because the web server has been slow for last couple of days it was difficult to get any info, yes i thought as much with travel-i not working it was something to do with the mapping program using the gps, as a "professional" HGV driver i thought what would be great is low bridge poi's, and what do i find low bridge poi's in the download section, fantastic, wasn't sure if i had bought the right gear, but it does what it says on the tin, straight out of the tin, and like you say it has a bit of a following. |

I too would like to have a speed camera database on my medion 250. I have the latest 2004 software (if that makes a difference).
I have looked at the Medion POI warner link, but the German is making my head spin! I think it is a POI warner only, where does the actual poi info come from?
So can anyone describe in the simplest way possible... how I get UK traffic cam warning up and running on my medion 250?
Thanks Pete (confused ) |

Hi Guys,
I am totally new to this game of Pocket PC's and GPS, but have just purchased a Medion MDPPC 150 loaded with Windows Mobile 2003 / ActiveSync / and Navigon's Mobile Navigator 4.2 Version 2004
I have read this forum chain with interest and wonder if the above details apply to my set up, as I want to load some good POI software and Camera Database as the other guys did.
Is this POI-Warner software the only one that will load onto my Medion PDA, or are there others now?
If so, does anyone have an idiots guide to downloading this software to my PC and then uploading it to my Pocket PC please?
All contributions gratefully received.[/quote] |

POI-Warners is the only compatible POI Warning utility for Medion and Navigon that I am aware of. _________________ Darren Griffin |

I have downloaded POI Warner and registered with the relevant companies, however when I come to downloading the Speedcamera database there does not show up a Medion compatible and there is a wide choice, i.e. speed 30, speed 40 etc.
Is there a complete idiots guide to this (for me)? |
