Hi,
Yes I'd be glad for any advice...
I have a Garmin GPSmap 60CSx and Memory map and that's v good but find the lack of good detailed map display with current location a disadvantage.
What additional kit would give me what I want ie 25000 scale map display with current location shown thereupon?
A don't need to use the kit in the motor...nor for any other fancy stuff...just for walking...and I'd rather not pay for extra map software...I already have 50000 and 25000 maps of the areas I want with Memory Map.
A friend mentioned two possibilities...hope I got the names correct: Mio Digiwalker and Road Angel Adventurer...do you think these would fit the bill...any other suggestions.
Thanks,
John |

I have a Navman Pin - a rebranded of the Mio 168, and use memory map. The PDA option is good, but I would much rather have the Garmin. PPC's are not as robust, not weather proof, and suffer from short battery life. It's also harder to use in the field due to the flip up antenna, but later versions don't have that problem.
Memory map on the PDA is a fantastic product, so as you already have this and maps, its not a bad thing to look at the PDA's. Just make sure you won't be disapponted with the robustness. |

These PDA devices will run Memory Map and display your current position on the map as well as a raft of other features.
The other product I would consider is an Otter Box to put the PDA into while out walking, this will protect the unit from the rain and damage from knocks and bangs - Mike |

You need to re-buy the maps with the Satmap.
You don't with the RoadAngel which will use any existing Memory Map mapping you may have (I think it only takes the latest version of maps though). _________________ Phil |

Been looking at the new Mio range, P360, P560 - they seem to fit the bill...anyone know if Memory Map os Version 5 will be compatible with Microsoft Windows Mobile 5 and Windows Mobile 6?
Thanks |

Memory Map will work fine using WM5 or WM6, please also consider something like an Otter Box though to protect it from the knocks and bangs, or at the very least a waterproof case to house the device so you can still use it in the rain - a PDA doesn't like foul weather - Mike |

I looked at the otter box and decided against it. The cost and size and uglyness all added up to taking the attitude that if the worst happens to my PDA, it will be a good excuse to buy a Garmin. A plastic bag keeps the water out and the case it comes with is reasonably good at protecting it agains the knocks. Either I have been lucky, or they are more robust than they look
I take a map and compass (and know how to use them), so "loosing" the unit in the feild is not going to be the end of the world.
So far, no luck, so I still have the PDA |
