Hi Guys
I'm glad I found you. I've wasted many, many man hours searching for the most relevant sat nav and any help before buying and subscribing would be much appreciated. I do c. 25k miles a year and as such the spead camera database (accuracy v. cost) is crucial. I need:
- bluetooth
- Uk only mapping
- up to date speed camera database
- happy to spend to £250 (but ideally with subscriptions)
I (think) I have narrowed it down to Garmin Nuvi 710, TTgo 720 or Snooper Syruis Plus - though having read about your database, this latter option seems expensive??
Any advice gratefully received. Great forums btw

Welcome to the forums!

The only concensus you'll find here is regarding the speed camera database, where everyone will say "Use the PGPSW one!". If you haven't already done so read all about it here.

People tend to be passionate about their preference for TomTom or Garmin, and you'll get recommendations for both. You really need to find a shop that has the models you're interested in and will let you try them, that way you'll be able to decide which is right for you.

Yeah, Blue tooth for hands-free but occasional use only in second car (i have an installed blue tooth kit). I know Garmin / TT is personal choice, but its nice to get an informed opinion. By the look of things
- most sat navs work with your database (is the functionality better on certain models?)
- said database is more accurate and cheaper than Snooper / TT / Garmin etc
Therefore get a known brand and your database Very Happy ??

Functionality varies between makes. TomTom allow a bit more customisation of the icons etc for example.

Actual spec wise, there is little to differentiate between the two I would suggest, Garmin and TomTom. It all boils down to which UI you prefer. I dislike Garmin, too Fisher Price for me but you really do need to be able to compare the two at a dealer such as Halfords (take EVERYTHING they telly you about any device with a large pinch of salt!)

For your budget you will get the mid range model from either manufacturer. Also ensure your phone is supported before you plump for one or the other.
