|
|
I have a TomTom ONE V2 - I'm considering getting the TomTom Plus Service to add traffic warnings - what I want to know is
a) is there a free trial of it available anywhere so I can try it out?
b) Can you get traffic updates when you sync it with TomTom Home or only via a mobile phone and GPRS.
So what i have in mind is that before I leave the house on a journey I'll connect my PC to my TomTom ONE and do and update - will it also update the traffic conditions via the PC (and Internet) or will I have to use a mobile phone and incur the data charges?
c) Anyone know how much it will cost in data charges to use TomTom with 3 Mobile on their 12p Tariff. |

I seem to remember that you get a month free trial when you first buy your device. My guess is that other wise you'll have to subscribe to find out if you like it. It may be worth dropping an email to TomTom and asking if you can have a month free to decide.

I don't think there's a way to download the traffic updates via TomTom home at present (may be wrong). Would be a nice idea though. _________________ "A good scientist is a person with original ideas. A good engineer is a person who makes a design that works with as few original ideas as possible"

TomTom no longer offer a free month trial of Traffic.
The GPRS service is ONLY available via your mobile phone and incurs data charges. You can adjust the settings to specify the frequency of downloading - 15 minute intervals is a good timing if you need regular updates and it doesn't usually download a lot after the first download. When I tried the free trial about 18 months ago, the cost was quite negligible, presumably because my phone account was cheap in that respect. It does vary from provider to provider though - sorry, I don't know about your contract.
If you search far enough back, I seem to recall MikeAlder once reported on the amount of data downloaded. _________________ Dennis

Not sure about that I got a 1 Month free traffic trial with my 930T
Which is unusual as not on the *20Ts came with a 1 month trial as far as I know. _________________ Current Device (Changes almost weekly)Navcore V8.002
