Hi
Just bought my first sat nav and got the Garmin 250W. I've updated the software from the garmin site to make sure its up to date, but whenever i put in somewhere to go, it just sits on 'locating satellites' for ages....and i mean anything from 10 to 30 minutes????
any suggestions as to what i could do? (does anyone lese exeperience this)
cheers |

wait a bit longer ;)
on a 'cold start' it can take up to 45 minutes to get a satellite fix. make sure it has a clear view of the sky. subsequent start ups will not take anywhere near as long.

The other important part is to remain stationary while the device gets its initial position fix, if you are moving it will take considerably longer to acquire the signal - Mike |

Just to add. If your car has an athermic windscreen e.g. Peugeot/Citroen, getting a lock will take longer than if you are outside the car. Once you have a lock the screen doesn't appear to affect it as much. _________________ Formerly known as Lost_Property
