Sofware updates

I have a Etrex Vista Cx . Having looked on the Garmin website there appears to be an updated software release.

My question is should I download it to my device ?

What are the risks and are there any great benefits ?

My set is working OK with no problems I just wonder if there is any point and if anything can go wrong ?

Risks?
If you lose power when the firmware is being saved to flash, you may end up "bricking" the unit. Make sure the USB cable connection is reliable. If you're worried about mains power loss, get a UPS or update using a laptop with charged battery.
Some people post of issues after applying an update, e.g. not getting a satellite fix as fast - but not everyone has this. If you believe your unit is affected, you can always apply an earlier version of firmware.
