7.481 has lost King's road SW3!!! (its only a small street in the middle of london) but it can only find King's road SW6!
There may be other major road,I'll let u know.
PS If anyone else has lost King's road please let me know! |

How are you searching?
I'm still on v7.221 on a Go720 with v715 W+CE maps.
If I "search for address", put "London" as the city, and then type "Kings Road" all I get are:
Kings Road NW10
Kings Road N22
Kings Road W5
and then onto Kings Cross Bridge N1 etc.
So I don't get EITHER of your two possibles!
But if I put "Chelsea" as the city, as soon as I start "ki..." I get offered Kings Road SW3
If I put in "West Brompton" I get offered Kings Road SW10
Putting in "Fulham" DOESN'T find Kings Road SW6 though!
It took me a while, but eventually I found it under "Parsons Green".
So it doesn't matter what software you're on, the "search" can be a bit eccentric at times! |

I put in city LONDON
STREET Kings road
and got the same response as you.
But If I put in King's Road got a differant response.
Conculsion, WHAT A CRAP SEARCH ENGINE!!
If an aposifity if the differance to the result then we have no chance.
Is Tomtom going backwards? |

Are you saying it definitely used to work better than it does now, on the same maps?
I'd be quite surprised if a minor software update changed the "search" abilities like this. |

I cant say I had this problem before, also why should the differance in the postcode (SW6 v SW3) make one appear and not the other? The spelling is the same! |

|
|
Hi Guys
Just had to roll back to 7.221 SW on my 920T.
Thought I'd share the link with you.
And instructions;
2. Click on the link http://tomtom.com/updates/matrix/7.221TomTomApplicationforGO520GO720GO920.zip and select ''Save'', select Desktop (in the options on the right) and click on ''Save'' again.
3. Connect your TomTom device to your PC and switch it on
4. Click on 'start' on your pc and then click on 'my computer'
5. You should see your TomTom device as a removable storage disk, double click on it
6. You will now see some yellow folders and some loose files, delete the loose files DO NOT DELETE THE YELLOW FOLDERS
7. Go back to your desktop and right click on the downloaded file that was attached to my email and select extract all
8. Follow the steps of the Extraction Wizard (Next, Next and Finish).
9. You will now see another folder called ‘navcore_7.221' double click on it
10. You will now see 1 yellow folder and 7 loose files, copy all of these (press Ctrl and A then Ctrl and C).
11. Now go back to 'my computer' and double click on your device and paste these files into there (press Ctrl V). If you get a message 'this file already exists do you want to replace it' click ''yes'' or ''yes to all'')
You have now re-installed the original application and can safely disconnect and use your device as normal.
Hope it can help !! |

To update this thread - After 5 days of trying I finally got TomTom support to stay on the phone while I rolled back to version 7.221. I then had to get my Traffic subscription re-activated and my USA map re-activated too. TomTom told me that I would not have full functionality -e.g. the mp3 player doesn't work, but all the navigation and phone functions do seem to work properly now. I haven't had occadsion to use my 720 much since so can't be sure all the problems have gone away. I'm now about to go into Home and see if there is a new later update that fixes the 7.484 issue. |

My 520 had updated to 7.481 but I restored the 7.221. TT Home however still thinks I have the latest update installed and will not offer it again. Is there a file I can delete either on the 520 or PC that will force Home to allow me to update again.
Or is there a copy of the firmware about somewhere that I can manually install.
I could restore from previous backups but would rather not overwrite other settings etc if possible so what files do I need to copy? |

In HOME, under Tools, TomTom HOME Preferences, Folder Preferences, there is a Downloads Folder location.
In that location will be a folder called program. In there you should find a .cab file and a .toc file. If you move these to a safe place you should be able to download it again.
If you just want to restore the application, then leave the 2 files where they are and in HOME select Add Maps, Traffic, voices, etc | Items on my computer (page 4 of 4).
Click the '+' next to Applications and then Click the ADD button against the Application you want to re-install. _________________ Richard

I've been trying mine with version 7.221. When I press "Navigate to" I have to press "Address", then 2 of the oiptions are "Spoken Address" and "Spoken Address (Dialogue). If I press the latter, it says "Please State City" then hangs for ages on "One Moment Please..." Sometimes it then goes to a city list and in the bottom is the mouth icon but it is greyed out. Other times it just stays on "One Moment Please...".
I can remember the spoken dialogues working but I have been on 7.481 and I can't remember if it was then or on 7.221. _________________ TT Go Essential |

The Speech recognition, both "Navigate to... spoken address" and "Navigate to... spoken address (dialogue)" has been there on my Go720 since new (starting with v7.000). It has always been very buggy though.
I hardly ever use the speech recognition, but it seems whenever I try it (or show it to someone) it has stopped working again and needs a reset or more often a "return to factory setings" or reinstall of a backup to get it going again.
Been the same with every software update. |
