Jaguar XF

Can anybody please help me to find out the SarNav system that is fitted to the New Jaguar XF model.

A coleague of mine with this Jag, needs to instal Camera POIs and I pointed him towards joining Pocket GPS World, but he is unable to proceed because he does not know which files he needs and how to process them.

Any help would be much appreciated.

It is a Denso unit. There are some tips on programming in your own POIs at http://www.bmwnavaddpoi.co.uk/neroway.htm
The instructions relate to the BMW unit, which I understand is the same software as the XF.

I think that if the above method works, then the software from http://pimp-my-nav.com would also work. It looks a bit less daunting to a beginner. If you look at the Requirements page, there is a list of supported maps and a tool for checking. HTH

I don't get the point of bothering though? Without any audible or visual alarm what use are they? In all the solutions available all it achieves is a basic and static GATSO icon on screen?

Thanks for all the Info and opinions. I had not relised that the system in the Jag XF is unable to give a warning when aproaching POIs. Is this a definate no can do or is it possible that nobody has stumbled on it yet?

I just bought a MY 2013 Jaguar XF, it is a hard drive disk based Sat Nav in the dash system made by DENSO in Japan with no POI's for Cameras :-(

but it does have (via the USB port under the middle console armrest) a way to add POI's using the GPX ( Gamin format ) files, you just put them in the root of any USB stick

for the PocketGPSWorld camera database it is best to go for Consolidated and GPX

Instructions on how to do this follow (and it is a lot of touchscreen pushing), but worth it if you have a 2013 Jag XF (credit goes to jimpy and others on the jaginfo forum)

How To install Speed/Safety Camera POI’s To Jaguar XF

Voice guidance has to be on for you to hear the audible alerts (but this can be turned on and off easily enough)

This should work on all Jaguars With Hard Drive Sat. Nav that are factory installed

NB Known to work on Year 2013 3.0D & 2.2D Luxury & Premium Luxury Cars

NBB All at your own risk, but it worked for me :-)

Start The Engine (Ignition may switch off otherwise while you are installing the GPX files and screw things up)

Insert USB Stick with your POI’s on in the root folder of the drive (no sub folders please). The POI’s must be in GPX Format (See Handbook)

NB Mac Users ( Apple ) make sure your USB stick is formatted to MS-DOS (FAT32) standard, otherwise it will not work !

Touch the Nav Button

Touch Nav. Menu Button

Touch More Button

Touch Stored Locations

Touch My POI Button

Touch Add Button

Touch "USB Drive" Button

It should now show a list of the POI’s on your USB Stick

Touch the type of POI you want to install (Do one at a time, it is much much safer that way)

When you have installed all the POI’s you want to install
go to Edit and touch the Edit Button

This should bring up all the POI’s you have installed including any previous ones you have installed

Touch the Camera File you want to Edit (Example, Gatso-Mobile-Pmobile-Red Light-Specs)

This will bring up a Menu to allow you to change the sound and Switch the Sound and Show on Map On or Off

NB it is recommended that you Switch both Sound and Shown on the Map to On

To change the sound go to the Icon shown on Left Hand Side of screen Touch the Sound Icon it will bring up a list of Installed Sounds touch the one you want for that particular Camera & DON’T FORGET to touch OK before leaving that Menu Screen otherwise it will default to all Off.

Do this for all the Camera Maps you want to Edit one at a time touching OK after each Map Edit

Touch Return to Map after you have Edited all the Cameras you want and Remove your USB stick !

Take the Car for a Drive near to some cameras you know about and test to see if working OK

P.S
The Cameras will only work when you are in Map View or the Sat. Nav is Routing you.

Once you have gone to Map view you can then go to other screens and Speed Cameras will continue to warn you.

You MUST do this every time you start the car, if you don’t go to Map View then the camera alerts will not warn you.

Switching the Ignition off cancels Camera Alerts as it also Cancels the Map, but not a Route. (As Standard)

You can Select which Cameras you want to warn you, or just have them showing on Map with No Sound.

just had a message from someone successfully using guide, but having troubles with his USB stick, so if you are a Mac User ( Apple ) make sure your USB stick is formatted to MS-DOS (FAT32) standard, otherwise your Denso Satnav USB port will not be able to read the data on the USB

Hi,

I have followed the instructions closely and edited the database to ensure sound was on without success. The icons are showing for the cameras as I travel, on the Satnav of my 2013 XF, but no matter if I have voice guidance on/off, a route planned or not or if I change the icon to a different sound, I cannot get any audible warning as I approach a camera. Any other suggestions (I've used the latest 22nd Jan update with Other-GPX and Consolidated options selected)
