Just wondering if any of the beta testers out there have been emailed with the new map that was promised mid April? I've not heard anything as yet from TT |

My info said Quote: | The product trial has now come to an end. We will send you an email around April 29 with exact details about the map and software downloads. |

Not got my email to hand but it did say the maps and software would be made available on my account mid April and instructions would then follow at the end of April |

Simple question, how long does it take between the map is released to beta testers and final official release. Are we talking a couple of weeks or months here ? Thanks |

I do not beleive there's a timing issue here as the maps in question have already been released with the GO 930. I suspect that behind the scenes this is all down to marketing and sales, they release the most expensive units first and hold the release of the 530/730 units. To be able to release the V8 maps to x20 users they also have to release the Navcore V8 upgrade and this will impact sales of the x30 range, thus the delay. |

Don't know. I had assumed that it would be available to all at the same time. This will be the official release of the beta map we tested back in February, and should be the same as what is coming preloaded on the x30 series. So it is available, it's just a matter of loading it on their servers and allowing people to dl it.
I wouldn't be surprised if this becomes a classic case of the left hand not knowing what the right hand is doing, and the marketing/sales hand telling the technical hand not to release this upgrade until they've seen some lift from the x30 sales. Purely speculation, though. |

Just received an email from TomTom confirming that we will be receiving the new maps and application with IQ routing. The only negative is that we need to wait until it's officially released for the x20 range.
As a positive it does confirm that Navcore 8 will be released for the older models, its just a waiting game now..... |

Unsolicited, arrived out of the blue, I was quite happy waiting, I've included the actual email below:
Dear Sir or Madam,
As a reward for your participation in the TomTom trial, you will receive the latest map with TomTom IQ Routes technology for free!
This month the map with IQ Routes will become commercially available for the GO 530, 730 and 930 products.
We will send you an email with details on how to obtain your free map download when it is commercially available for your device.
You need to keep the trial memory card (SD) to save the map!
Thank you for helping TomTom to create better products!
Best regards,
The TomTom Team |
