Hi,

I've been using my TT One (4N00.001) on my motorcycle for around three years. Time is starting to take it's toll, in that the power connector is getting loose, causing intermittent charging. I need to keep checking I have a certain tension on the connector to ensure it makes a good connection.

Before, I succumb to the temptation of a Zumo, I want to have a go at re-tensioning the power socket on my device. My problem is I cant seem to find the type of driver I need to remove the 4 screws/bolts in the back of the unit. They are hex/allen bolts but have a 'pin' sticking up in the middle of the hex socket. I assume these are 'security' screws, but what are they called? What tool to I search for to remove these little pests?

Any help gratefully received.

Regards,

Glenn

The type of fasteners are known as Torx bits, Maplins stock a range of suitable bits that will fit a standard socket drive should you have an outlet local to yourself and they are not too costly - Mike

Are you sure Mike? I thought Torx screws had a 'star' shaped socket. The screws on my One (V1) are hex screws but with a 'pin' protruding in the centre of the socket, so it looks like I need a hex driver with a hole in the centre.

Glenn

That would be security Torx then. Again Maplin stock them, or used to.

Thanks for the feedback guys.

For info, I got a set of mixed 'security bits' form maplin today. Contains the required 'hex security' bits I needed, as well as torx, offset philips & several other types I've never seen before. 33 pieces in total for £7.99, hopefully I'll be able to eek another season out of this device before upgrading.

...and just think of what else you can open now! Twisted Evil

My kettle had what looked like ordinary pozidrive or phillips head screws but with only three slots not four. The same set of security bits I'd bought for the TomTom had the right ones for that too.
