Top Tips For keeping Thieves Away

i know it sounds like alot of work, i know its alot of hassle, but my top tips for everyone is to:

A. Remove the Satnav whenever you leave the vehicle - take it with you wherever you go - simple and effective - no need to remove the wiring and no need to remove the cradle. just the sat nav itself.


B. Always leave the glove box open - potential thieves will see that you've clearly taken it with you. Often when thieves see that there is a Cradle or there are marks on the window where a cradle would be, they look to the glove box, if its closed... they're more willing to break in, if they see, that there is nothing but the average glove box bits and bobs, they often leave it as there isnt anything which outweighs the Risk-Pay off reaction.

C. Never park in Dark or quiet areas - although people think quiet areas mean less chance of break ins, its quite the oppersit. More chance o f a thief being caught/disturbed by cars driving past or people walking up and down the street, even at night time.

D. Make friends with your neighbours - i know it sounds lame, but often neighbours can be a good weapon against crime. Sometimes your neighbours hear things that you may not, if their friendly enough they may call the police or even take action to disturb the thieves.

Living in Leeds, i know for a FACT that if i leave anything on show that looks like its worth anything, my car will instantly be targeted. Hence why i'm paranoid about leaving anything of value in my car. My car itself isnt of massive value, so my car itself doesnt get targeted, but ive caught people sniffing around it because of the GPS cradle in the window.

ive always left my normal trash in the glove box, but i dont think their intrested in nicking a few wrappers, a torch and maybe a free parker pen.

Most motorists would use Black Dyke and Chopin CDs to deter thieves

I use the philosophy of never leaving anything on display, no matter how valuable of otherwise it may look - even an old jacket could be a target because jackets often have wallets etc in the pockets

Some of the criminal fraternity were at the back of the queue when brains were handed out though -

a friend of my wife recently had her car stolen and written off by being driven into a wall in a nearby village

...the thief was also local and bragged to one of his friends - who knew the girl whose car he'd knicked

...the police didnt need to do too much detective work and easily managed to link the criminal to the crime
