Although this is seen as a bit of a joke, my personal opinion is that this guy should have his taxi license revoked, and penalty points on his license
The man is a liability. Imagine what else we could get. It said turn right so I did, but it didn't tell me to check for oncoming cars!!!!!
I use my TomTom to get me to my destination. Several times, especially abroad it has directed me up a gravel track. I didn't take the turning however, used some common sense, carried on, and it re-routed me along real roads.
This always brings back memories of the camper van driver in the States. Put on the cruise control, and went in the back to make a cup of tea. Obviously crashed, and successfully sued the manufacturer, as the manual didn't say you had to remain in the seat to steer.
Please - Use some common sense |

Sat navs can be brilliant if used properly but they don't replace common sense, you still have to be able to think for your self.

That's part of the problem - some GPS users obviously didn't have any common sense to start with, so there's nothing to replace _________________ Andy

Sorry but I couldnt stop laughing when I read this!!!!!
There is a Greek phrase used when you want to quote "common sense" that says: "If somenone tell you to jump from a cliff, would you do it?"
I think this fits 100% to the situation!
I believe this matter dosent deserve more attention, other than laughs because if you lack common sense then its certainly not the GPS's fault! |

I think this article provides an interesting departure from the usual way of reporting such incidents in the media. It's not "SatNav error leads driver into river", but "Stupid driver blindly follows SatNav instructions into river". Perhaps the tide is turning? |

! a bit out of subject, but every time I was late on a job I had here they were also saying to me "pick a window" (to jump obviously!)
well....this article actually makes me wonder. Is it just idiocy or a legal scum to make money?
I've read somewhere a list of the most extraordinary court cases in USA that won! and one of them was the following:
A caravan driver set the auto-pilot (that thing that keeps the accelerration) and he abandoned the wheel. The caravan obviously crashed into a tree after a few meters, but he managed to sue the company, as he claimed that the instructions did not mention that the auto-pilot does not actually drive the vehicle and that you should never abandon the wheel!
The article says that he actually won the trial and he got paid compensation!
This was also the reason that the company changed its manual to be ridiculsy detailed on the warnings
I think this is also the reason that we see warnings on instructions such as: chainsaw instructions-DO not touch the blades with bare hands when operating! |

It's an Urban Myth, se here but knowing the US legal system and their hankering for class law suits it is possibly not far from the truth! _________________ Darren Griffin |

I can assure you the Taxi firm involved are going through hell!! a streamline taxi drove past in a local town and there were two Taxi drivers waiting at a taxi rank and they were really milking it with some of the comments shouted at them
The name of the taxi firm streamline is very appropriate
Edit
something which I find interesting I am sure the original picture was showing a Tomtom but now its not I wonder if Tomtom complained and threatened to sue because it was not a Tomtom being used |
