|
|
Does anyone know if there is any truth in the following. I have been told by my local Halfords that if I download any other Safety Camera Information to a TomTom that is in warranty such an action will invalidate the warranty if it has to be returned for repair. I am wondering if this is a ploy to just sell more TomTom Safety Camera top up cards which they offered me or if it is a fact. Having quickly read the warranty document I am unable to find any reference to it. |

Rubbish. It no more invalidates any warranty than installing software on your PC does.
In fact TomTom and many other Sat Nav manufacturers give you the option (and often the tools) to add third party Points of Interest (POI) to your Sat Nav. The PGPSW Speed Camera Database basically is a collection of POIs. |

If you think there might be a problem (which there isn't) have a look at TomTom's own web site on This Page which even provides a link to PocketGPSWorld as a supplier of third party POI files.
It even offers a link the PocketGPSWorld Speed Camera Database on the same page (although that is out of date and won't work to actually download the database).
As the Speed Camera POI files are no different to any other third party POI add on your chap at Halford’s is probably on a sales drive (commission) for selling TT own offering - Mike |
