I've just been reading a tutorial which claims to be able to upgrade the 168 to 2003SE. I didn't think Mitac had ever released a 2003SE ROM image for this PDA?
Anyone ever done this upgrade?

Thanks for the confirmation. Anyone recommend a site to 'talk' you through doing it and what software is needed? _________________ Cheers,

I dont think you will find any site will talk you thru it, and most of the original sites will now have moved, But briefly you will need:
a) Format Utility
b) OS Loader
c) New Firmware Windows 2003 SE
I have emailed the tutorial I used and i should still have the original firmware etc if its any help. email me, believe me its well worth upgrading. |

Since loading this 2003 SE rom my GPS seems to get a quicker fix.
What are the difference between 2003 and the SE version? |

One thing I will say when you back restore back-up from 2003 to SE is that your embedded media player corrupts. Propably due to version change. I had to re-install from saved SD .cabs luckily.
Managed to find out a few more differences.
*Media Player has moved up from 9 to 10
*Portrait and Landscape switching for Pocket PCs
*Single-Column layout in Pocket Internet Explorer
*VGA (640×480), 240x240, and 480x480 Screen resolution
*Wi-Fi Protected Access support
* GPS fix is much quicker than with the standard. |
