One of the things TT don't publicise about Mapshare is that it is Map (and Map version) specific.
Therefore if someone corrects a location on a Western Europe map, it DOESN'T appear as a Mapshare downloadable correction for the Western and Central Europe map.
Also, if someone makes a correction on the v710 WE map for example, it doesn't appear as a correction for the v715 WE map.
Therefore, if you buy the more expensive (i.e less popular) Western And Central Europe map, you get LESS from Mapshare than you would if you stuck with the map that came with the device.
Dumb eh?

huh that doen't make sense shirley it shouldn't matter what map you are using it's all from the same source....... but then again it makes sense as to why all my map corrections on the larger map isn't showing up on the GB map which has rather peed me off as i've had to relog them all again _________________ TomTom 5001

Last month there was some advice in this thread about downloading version 7.221 from Oldboy's update page & reverting to it.
My new Go 720, has version 7.20 on it. HOME is offering me version 7.481 but, having been following this thread, I'm reluctant to accept it even though I don't use RDC-TMC and that seems to be the main cause for complaint. Am I right not to upgrade to it?
If I am, is there any benefit in upgrading to version 7.221, which sounds to be bug-free from 7.20 and, if so, is it just a case of allowing the copied folders & files to overwrite the existing ones? After an explorer backup of course.

I would avoid v7.481 for now....
I don't know of a v7.20, are you sure it isn't v7.210? If so, there are hardly ANY differences between that and v7.221, so if you aren't having any problems I wouldn't bother.
But to answer your question, then usually yes, it is just a matter of taking all the files in the download and replacing the files with the same names on your machine with them.
Usually it is JUST loose files that are not in any folder, but the download of that version DOES have some files that are in folders. Make sure you only replace those particular files, NOT the entire folders.

Ah, thanks.
In that case, the changes I know of since then (for the x20 models) are:
v7.210:
Bug that didn't silence TTS voices in "Disable voice" menu now fixed. Audiobooks now readable from SD card.
Built-in sounds (especially Polite 1,2,3) changed!
Speech recognition routine on House number entry seems improved.
Big change- now 300 user POI categories allowed (reported by TT themselves but not personally checked this yet).
v7.221
Support for premium TMC service ‘InfoBlue’ in Italy (requires a TomTom RDS-TMC Traffic receiver). Other minor improvements.
v7.480 Unspecified minor improvements / bug fixes, adds support for TomTom's recently announced HD Traffic Receiver.
Lots of problems reported.
Taken from my big list of software revisions I've compiled HERE

Thanks again Andy,
It looks as though it would be worth updating to v7.221. When you say

do you mean that I should open the folders in the download, then copy the files from those folders into the same folders on the device? If so, must I delete the existing files first? _________________ TT Go Essential

You won't need to delete them first. If you just copy and paste the new Files into the correct places, Windows will ask if you want to overwrite the old ones, just say "Yes" or "Yes to all".

I have the out-of-the-box backup that was the first thing I did. I've done nothing more so far to the device than other than to add favourites, POIs & PGPSW speed cams & voices to the existing map. Then I backed up that map. I think I'll wait until after next weekend to update it to 7.221 in case I mess things up as we are off to France on Thursday returning Monday.
Edited to remove remainder of post, which related to a different thread. Sorry, I forgot I was responding to a different Andy _________________ TT Go Essential
