|
|
I am looking to replace my TomTom 910 for the following reasons:
1. Not happy with accuracy - my old Garmin Street Pilot Deluxe was more accurate in positioning. Especially where two roads run parallel in close proximity to each other.
2. Used in USA last year, voices couldn't pronounce a lot of roads correctly. Also, sometimes navigation would not take me to where I wanted to go, for example, the disneyland theme parks, TomTom always took me to the employees entrances.
3. Display washes out in sunlight.
I need USA maps installed as I am returning there later this year, so I have been considering the Garmin 670 and 770.
Which one should I go for (on a budget) or should I stick with my TomTom?
TIA |

I have read it on other forums that the Garmin mapping is better for the USA !!!
They also said the mapping for Europe is better on the Tomtom.
As you are not happy with the Tomtom try the Garmin !!! if you could borrow one from a friend to see how you get on it may be a good idea ???.
I think it is a case of the Garmin does somethings better than Tomtom and the Tomtom does some things better than Garmin I am afraid there is no perfect system yet |

The Garmin 670 is more expensive than the 770, and yet the latter is the newer model. I don't see much difference between them, so why would the 670 be about £50 more expensive? |

Yes I agree when you look at the Garmin website the Garmin 770 has a few extra features that the Garmin 670 does not .
Why does the 670 cost more than the 770 is I think just down to competition (ie the Tomtom 920 ) and the fact that sat navs have come down in price !! |

I have used my TomTom910 in both Florida for the theme parks and surrounding area attractions, as well as Las Vegas and have had no problems. Map I was using at the time were the V675 North America which I have kept on my unit, but will also try the V715 NA when I go back to Florida at the end of this month. |
