|
|
TomTom have announced a partnership with Zurich Insurance where customers of Zurich will get discounts on TomTom hardware and TomTom customers will get reciprocal discounts on Zurich insurance products.
Zurich is offering TomTom owners £50 in M&S vouchers when they buy car insurance from the company – and a 10% discount on the cost of their insurance if they buy online. For drivers who currently do not own a TomTom, Zurich is offering a promotional price of £179.99 for a TomTom ONE XL Europe Traffic system (a huge saving of £4 over current street prices!), when they sign up for a new insurance policy on the Zurich web site. The offer is valid in the UK, and runs until 31 May 2008.
Reserach suggests that drivers who use Satnav devices feel more relaxed and less stressed whilst driving so the move to partner with an insurance firm is a good 'fit' although Zurich may need to remind their customers of the importance of removing their satnav's when leaving the vehicle unattended!
Mike Quinton, managing director, Direct & Partnerships at Zurich in the UK, said, “Working with TomTom is a great fit for us at Zurich, given our shared wish to have safe drivers on the roads. Our expertise in delivering direct insurance here in the UK will allow us to bring this important message to our customers.” _________________ Darren Griffin |

I find it rather interesting how the people who have a real interest in driver safety - the Insurance companies who foot the bills for our misfortunes, seem to have a quite different opinion to that of some of the press, who regardless of what they claim, are often only interested in selling more papers, and the legislators (who wish to be re-elected) who are often over-influenced by public opinion which is sometimes based on 'press hype' rather than fact. |

Halfords price for this deal is currently £159, not such a good price from Zurich |

Not such a good deal the other way neither, I switched from Zurich to another company for my house insurance a couple of months ago from £480 down to £180 per year and that was like for like. |

Not a great deal, but at least it helps confirm what we all know
Used wisely, a good GPS aids driving, not hinders
I know my driving (in unknown areas) is much less stressed and far safer thanks to SatNav - not only that, but as an early adopter, I've seen the instructions (visual and perhap most importantly vocally) improve drastically over the years, and with it my driving ability in difficult situations |

I'm with Zurich and already have a Tomtom, so I guess my 'reward' will be a big fat zilch! |
