WorldMate has launched its Live for Windows Mobile travel service at CTIA 2008 in Las Vegas. This is the first interactive ‘push’ travel service for Windows Mobile smartphones. Your itinerary, which is always synchronized with your mobile device, can be shared with peers.
The WorldMate Live system, consisting of an Outlook add-on, website and mobile client, tracks a user’s travel itinerary from start to finish. All details such as car hire, hotels and flight information are imported to the system. Once on the road, the traveller is proactively ‘pushed’ information including gate changes or flight status - requiring no pre-emptive action from the user.
Services for WorldMate Live include: weather, weather-caster and satellite imagery, flight status and schedules, world clocks, currency converter, measurements clothing converter and day/night map.
Just before a trip, the service starts tracking your journey in real-time. It shows ongoing details and makes suggestions when required. If there is a problem with a flight you are notified immediately and then presented with alternative flights for the destination. Upon arrival, along with the local time and weather, you are greeted with a message outlining details of your next meeting or task as well as maps and directions to your next destination. _________________ Robert Brady |
