Now if you have the data in GPX format to can convert it to POI (or CSV) format with this program Check your PM too.

This might be a better way of storing the Waypoints as it's the same format used by the PGPSW POI system. You might even be able to get all 1000 Waypoints in one file and keep it on the unit.

I can't see a problem with having 1000 POIs in one category.

I think i'm loosing myself on this one a bit. Shocked

Do you have 1 GPX file with 1000 Waypoints in it or 1000 GPX file with 1 Waypoint each?

Does the 500 Waypoint limit refer to Waypoints or GPX files?

I got it sorted I don`t want to brother you with it any longer. Confused

My wife was on the phone to Garmin today. And for the first time someone told us that a Waypoint is NOT the same as a POI! I thought they were the same. Anyway on Garmin units you can only have up to 500 Waypoints but have loads of POI`s.
Every time I loaded the poi`s (1000 campsites in France) that were given to me via email, the unit seemed only to have some of them but in fact it only displays the closest 45. If I want to find the rest I must type in the name of One and it will display it. This is what Garmin told us and it seems to be the case.
Some of the advise you gave me was over my head. Maybe there should be a section in this forum for Dummies that explain what GPX. POI files mean and how to go about the process of loading them onto a unit.
So I found out the reason I could not seem to have more waypoints is because the unit only holds 500.

Paul

Ps I`ll stick to plumbing Rolling Eyes
