|
|
Just purchased the go 720 and was wondering if it is safe to convert the USB docking station to plug into the cigarette lighter? Has anyone tried this? Is the voltage on the unit safe?
My car dashboard on my Freelander is flat and I would like to be able to hold the unit in the docking station as apposed to using the window mount. Is this possible? Is there such a thing as a USB female cigarette charger so my docking station USB connector can pair up?
Thanks for all your help. |

I think that you're looking for something like this.
Just plug into your cigarette socket and plug the holder USB into it.

Have a read through This it is exactly this method that I used to make a custom powered holder out of my home dock.
As long as the ciggy addaptor drops the voltage to 5V (which the one in the above link will do) then it will work fine. Another option would be to use one of These where you get a couple of 12V sockets and 2 USB sockets - Mike |

Your link thread is exactly what I am trying to replicate for my go 720. Excellent write-up! with perfect, easy to follow step-by-step picture diagrams.

Why not add a post to the thread showing how to make it, and put a photo in it showing your device mounted in the vehicle, these low cost modification options are often overlooked - but well worth it in the long run - Mike |
