|
|
Any help on this subject is much appreciated.
I have a list of 3,500 customers, all listed in Excel with a postcode assigned to each.
I would like to know a way on exporting this postcode data into a GPS position. Ideally this information needs importing back into my Excel file so when I export the GPS information, it is done so with my customer name. When this is complete I will need to create a POI for my customers - I think I can follow the instructions on the TOMTOM site for doing this.
I have the following software available:
IPAQ2210 with 1.10 ROM
TTN3 Upgrade
KanPostcode by Neils Thompson (fantastic piece of software)
Checkpoint 3.2.0
Any help on this from you GPS Boffins is appreciated in advance.
Many thanks,
NEIL |

Are you sure you want to get just the coordinates of the postcode for yoiur users? Will that be detailed enough to identify the customers? Don't you also need the street address? _________________ Lutz

scraggy,
You can use my program CodeSearch in the Downloads area under POI Icons and Converters | PC. Cut and paste the data from your Excel spreadsheet into the grid on the screen. You will have to transfer the data in 4 cuts as I have put a limit of 1000 entries on the size of the grid. There is also a column for a description into which you can put the address. The postcode coordinates are added to the grid as you move from one row to another.
The postcode data is the original data posted by George Spanellis so you will have to download his files. Neils has added more to this database but these are not searched by my PC program. |

Reply to LBendlin:
The customer list I have is for my own use. The Excel data has a customer name, address and postcode. I would like some way to turn this into an TTN3 POI. If there is a better way than using the postcode, I am open to advice.
Thanks for your help and the great web site!

I have downloaded your program. Unfortunetly I cannot find the postcode data that is required. Can you point me in the right direction?
Thanks in advance.... |

The post code files are here http://www.pocketgpsworld.com/tomtompoi.php
scroll down to the UK section. The George Spanellis Codesearch files are grouped by PostCode Area. |
