|
|
I did a search and did not find this topic so here goes. I just got a 920T. When I select to route via voice dialog, the proper screen comes up. The lips on the bottom right are red. However, the lips in the top right are completely gray (not red yellow or green per the manual). It seems like the gps can not hear me at all (like my wife).
Any ideas? I will go later today to look at a display model and see if it works.
Thanks,

I had the computer voice selected. Still no luck. I just took the unit back to Circuit City and got a new one. It works fine.
However, I am a little baffled by the numbers. I say 3 and it says three. I then say zero and it just sits there. Won't accept any number after the first.
Different issue Any ideas?
Thanks,

Now that I have hooked the new device to my pc and updated the maps, etc... the voice dialog no longer works.

Bet you also upgraded to firmware 7.480. That KILLS VR for North American 720's. |

Tap the sat strength meter and a small box on the right side of the screen will display the version.
As for rolling the device back, do you have a backup from when the unit was new? - Mike |

Thanks. I checked it is 7.480. Bad news I guess. No, I do not have a backup. I just bought it last night and of course the recommendation is to upgrade firmware immediately. The backup came right after. Seems the restore to factory default does not roll back the firmware.
Are you aware of any fix that TT has provided? Are they aware of the issue?
Any hope to roll back or should I just take it to where I got it and get a new one? If I do that, how do I get new maps and updates without updating the firmware?
So far, not too happy (
Thanks,

Use the device for a week as it is, I am sure there will be an update that fixes some of the 7,48 issues as a large number of people have been complaining. TomTom must be aware of the situation, you could take the device back, but then you have all the hasstle of downloading updated maps and setting the unit up and of course the all important day one back up - I would sit tight for a bit rather than repeat all the above, although a call to TT customer support wouldn't go a miss - Mike |

Duck.....
Mike's response makes sense but if you wish to revert to 7.221, you can go here:

Link is there. |

For 30, you have to say "three - zero", for 185 you say "one - eight - five". Continuous sentence giving all the numbers individually to make the complete number, then pause to let her tell you what she's got.

Getting a new unit from the shop might be the easiest option. (If you have already registered this unit under your e-mail address, register the new one under a different e-mail address, unless you were unwise enough to sign up to some of the TomTom PLUS services, in which case you'll need to change your registration - sometimes easy, sometimes nearly impossible). Then quite simply, you get offered several updates complete with tick boxes, including Application for GO520/720/920. Just untick the box and it doesn't download. Continue to untick it every time.
BEFORE you do any of that, back up the new unit by copying everything off it onto your PC BEFORE you even answer the questions about what country and language. _________________ Dennis

Thanks guys.
I did figure out the number thing after re-reading the instructions. go figure. Didn't realize I had to say all 3 digits in a row.
How do I install that rollback version, just launch it?
Thanks,

Unzip the download into a new Back up Folder and Copy/Paste the lot onto the Device.
I understand that with Vista you have to copy the Files, a Folder at a time, as it has a problem copying a tree structure. I haven't got Vista so can't be specific.

Just an update. TT support confirmed the issue with the firmware and said they are working on a fix. He agreed that I should return it and not update the firmware until the info shows a new version number.
Thanks for all your help,
