I want to add a new camera to the database using .../modules.php?name=Cameras&referer=SideBar#submit but the "country" dropdown is locked to United Kingdom. I have not checked the "tick to confirm country" (because it isn't UK) and yet I appear not to be allowed to make a submission.
I am using Firefox 2.0.0.13
==================
Later edit
Apologies to everyone - typical newbie problem of suffering information overload. The dropdown where you select the country is ABOVE the single camera submission form. I was distracted by the blue dividing lineThe one within the form which is locked is simply for confirmation.

I'm seeing the same issue here in Safari and Firefox 3.
I'll raise the issue and see if we can get it resolved. _________________ Darren Griffin |

What happens if you go to what I've always thought of as the "main" camera submission page?
http://www.pocketgpsworld.com/modules.php?name=Cameras
Using Firefox, I can change the country in the drop-down box there, or I can just drag the map around to get to any country. |

Thanks Andy_P2002,
That seems to be a useful workaround. Obviously just a coding hickup on the previous submission page.
Unfortunately in my haste to put in the data from my previous unsuccessful attempt I forgot to click the "Autofill ID" button.
How do I fix that one? Indeed why is there a button? If it is an empty box (ie someone not changing an existing one,) surely it should autofill instead of re-allocating ID 0.
=======================
Later Edit;
I don't know why but I read Autofill as meaning autofill with the next available ID rather than fill the rest of the form if you are Modifying/Removing an existing camera from its known ID.
Sorry for any confusion

I don't think you should need the "autofill" button for a new camera submission.
That's only if you want to change a detail about an existing camera.
What you DO need to do, is drag the map around with the mouse so that the tiny cross-hairs in the middle are at the exact spot and then use the "update coordinates for single submission" button to put the correct Lat/Long numbers in the boxes automatically.
If you write it all in the comments box, it will get sorted... There's a manual step in the process, where any issues are ironed out! |

Don't know if this means it's fixed, OR instead that it only effects some...
But I can access the page, and choose from the list of countries, using EITHER method.
Firefox, and Windows Vista here.
I'll try IE now...
Ok - had to log in first in IE (obviously) but can see it find and choose country there too.
Now for Safari...
Whoops - never realised I hadn't yet installed it on my Vista PC.
But yes, Safari works too.
Going slightly ever so muchly Off Topic now - can I ask those of you who actually USE Safari...
How do you get it to start up with multiple Homepages, as Firefox and IE does - this is the reason I gave up using it last time I tried it.
As this bit is O/T feel free to reply via PM if you can help. |

I'm not sure you can.
The Mac version (bearing in mind this is Apple software) only allows one Homepage...
...but, then, so does Firefox (Mac version)
...as for IE, that's rubbish and hasn't been supported by Apple for ages
However, if anybody knows better, I would be interested to hear
edit - just tried Safari 3.1 and Firefox 2.0.0.13, and neither of them gives me access to that facility. _________________ Andy

Not possible AFAIK in Safari but in FF just separate the URL's by a pipe i.e. | _________________ Darren Griffin |
